French guard Migna Touré shined in the Valkyries' final preseason win. Learn about her journey from France to the WNBA and what's next.

French rookie Migna Touré made a big splash in the Golden State Valkyries’ final preseason game, showing off her scoring skills and fearless attitude. Her journey from the courts of France to the WNBA has been full of hard work, and her debut has fans and analysts excited about what’s next.

Migna Touré’s Basketball Career: From France to the WNBA

Touré took her first steps in basketball at the Centre Fédéral academy in France and worked hard from 2009 to 2012 before gaining the right to become a professional player with Arras Pays d’Artois Ligue Féminine de Basket.

Born in Nevers on December 19, 1994, Touré started her basketball career in France through the club system. She moved up the ranks through clubs like Lyon Basket Féminin, Cavigal Nice, and Basket Landes, and it was also at these establishments that she developed her three-point shooting and floor vision.

For the 2024–25 season, Touré signed with Spar Girona in Spain’s Liga Femenina Endesa, averaging 8.9 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game over 30 regular-season contests before departing for WNBA camp.

In the EuroCup Women play that year, she contributed 8.4 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game on 44.9% shooting, helping Girona advance to the quarterfinals.

Touré made her WNBA debut with the expansion club, Golden State Valkyries, in their final preseason game on May 11, 2025. She scored 19 points off the bench on 7-of-13 from the field, including four three-point buckets. Head Coach Natalie Nakase described her rookie guard as “fearless,” leading the second unit outscoring Phoenix’s bench in the final score of 84-79.

Significant Achievements and International Play

Touré took her first steps in the direction of the international sports world during the 2013 FIBA U19 Women’s World Cup, where her average was 5.8 points and 1.9 rebounds per game, which helped France turn the team but only just pick up a silver medal.

Since 2022, she has been playing for the senior French national team. In the 2025 FIBA Women’s EuroBasket qualifiers, she had 9.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game, which showed her versatility in international competition.

Personal Life and Background

Mamignan Touré was born in Nevers, France. Despite a globe-trotting basketball career, she retains strong ties to her hometown. Known simply as “Migna,” she stands at 6 ft 0 in (1.83 m).

Aside from her professional basketball career, the Valkyries star is a physical education teacher in Montpellier, and that’s none other than competing for Lattes Montpellier from 2021 to 2024. Furthermore, Touré also makes the best of her competitive spirit by playing in 3×3 basketball, competing for her country abroad, and contributing to the development of the sport on the grassroots level.

Touré’s path from Nevers to the WNBA exemplifies the global evolution of women’s basketball and the critical role that a diligent, fearless guard can play. Her success in Spain, international medals with France, and immediate impact in Golden State’s preseason finale point to a promising career ahead in the WNBA.
