Patrick Mahomes has established himself as the greatest quarterback of his generation. However, given his dominant NFL career, it’s hard to believe Mahomes was once lightly recruited coming out of Whitehouse High School.
The three-star prospect in the 2014 recruiting class only received three scholarship offers – from the Texas Tech Red Raiders, Oklahoma State Cowboys, and Rice Owls. The lack of interest was somewhat surprising. However, his alma mater has now honored him in the highest fashion, and the ever-so generous Mahomes was quick to announce a gift to give back to the community.
Patrick Mahomes Teams Up With Adidas for Special Gesture After HS Hall of Fame Induction
Mahomes appears to be well on his way to being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame and forever immortalized with a bust in Canton, Ohio. The 29-year-old earned his first Hall of Fame induction this week, however, when he was inducted into the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame on Thursday, May 8.
The three-time Super Bowl champion later announced his custom jersey deal with $42,170,000,000-worth Adidas, not just for college teams but 15 high school teams across the country, and said the uniforms would have his Gladiator logo on them.
The first school to receive the uniforms would, of course, be Texas, where it all began for the Chiefs legend.
“Whitehouse, Texas is where it all began,” Mahomes wrote after the induction. “It’s an honor to be inducted into the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame.
“As a part of this recognition, I’m proud to announce that @adidasfballus and I are signing 15 high schools to Team Mahomes that will represent my Gladiator logo on uniform, starting with Whitehouse High School. This is just the beginning.”

The Class of 2025 was officially honored and inducted on Saturday, May 10, 2025, in Waco, Texas. Gary Keithley, Pat Thomas, Brad Goebel, John C. Norman, and Robert Griffin III joined Mahomes as players who were inducted, with each decade – dating back to 1969 & before – getting one inductee.
Mahomes threw for 4,619 passing yards and 50 passing touchdowns, as well as 948 rushing yards and 15 rushing touchdowns as a senior at Whitehouse High School. He, however, is coming off his worst regular season since taking over as a starter in 2018, as he failed to reach the Pro Bowl or throw for 4,000 yards for the first time in that seven-year stretch (3,928).
Despite an underwhelming individual season, Mahomes led the Chiefs to their fifth Super Bowl appearance of his career and third in a row. However, they lost the Super Bowl to the Eagles, and it may have dealt at least a slight blemish to his quest to become the greatest of all time.
Nevertheless, it also means we can expect a version of Mahomes in 2025 that looks a lot more like the MVP years. If there’s one thing we know about him, it’s that his mindset is always locked in on winning it all, and he won’t let that loss slide easily.
