Titans Predicted To Trade 22-TD Former Second-Round Pick After Drafting His Replacement

The Titans are predicted to trade former second-round QB Will Levis after selecting Cam Ward No. 1 overall in the 2025 NFL Draft.

The 2025 NFL Draft saw the Tennessee Titans select Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward with the No. 1 overall pick. Ward impressed the Titans—and much of the league—with his dynamic skill set, showing off a strong arm and good mobility. He’s now expected to take over as the face of the offense in Tennessee.

The Titans currently have Ward, Will Levis, Brandon Allen, and Tim Boyle in the quarterback room. With head coach Brian Callahan reportedly losing patience with Levis’ mistakes in 2024, the former second-round pick is expected to be traded before the season begins.

Tennessee Titans Predicted To Trade Will Levis

Levis was selected 33rd overall by the Titans in the 2023 NFL Draft and was thrust into the starting lineup after Ryan Tannehill went down with an injury. Levis finished his rookie season with a 3-6 record in nine starts and was given another shot heading into 2024.

But his second year didn’t go any better. Levis went 2-10 as a starter and was benched at times for Mason Rudolph. With the Titans now committed to Ward as their future, the 25-year-old’s time in Tennessee appears to be running out.

PFSN’s Sterling Xie predicts Levis could be traded before the 2025 season begins.

“The most obvious pick of the entire draft was Cam Ward going No. 1 overall to the Tennessee Titans,” Xie wrote. “That reality became inevitable after Will Levis flamed out in his second season, with Brian Callahan visibly losing patience with Levis’ mistakes at multiple points during the 2024 season.

“Now, Levis is in an awkward position as the ostensible QB2 on the Titans’ depth chart. Given how last year went, it’s unclear if Callahan would be willing to trust Levis to fill in for any period of time if needed. Even if Tennessee doesn’t fully trust Brandon Allen as its top backup, other options like Carson Wentz and Tyler Huntley have spent more time in the backup role.”

Wentz, the former No. 2 overall pick by the Philadelphia Eagles, spent last season as a backup to Patrick Mahomes. Huntley, meanwhile, is currently unsigned after starting five games for the Miami Dolphins in 2024 and finishing with a 2-3 record. Either quarterback could be a cheaper and more experienced option behind Ward.

Xie suggested the New England Patriots and Jacksonville Jaguars as possible landing spots for Levis.

“A fresh start would be helpful for both sides. Mike Vrabel was the Titans coach when the franchise drafted Levis, and the New England Patriots’ current backup behind Drake Maye is journeyman Joshua Dobbs. In addition, Levis’ collegiate offensive coordinator was Liam Coen, and the Jaguars’ current backup QB is Nick Mullens. Either could be an opportunity for Levis to start over with a familiar coaching staff.”

The Titans were expected to move Levis during the draft, but the right offer never came. With a few teams still looking for backup help—like the Patriots—a trade could still happen in the coming weeks.
