Shilo Sanders has an opportunity to prove himself in the NFL, signing an undrafted free agent contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. While streaming on Twitch, he had a hilarious thought about taking his dad fishing in Florida. The journey here wasn’t exactly what he envisioned — once a potential late-round pick, Sanders watched all seven rounds of the 2025 NFL Draft pass without hearing his name called.
But the son of Hall of Famer Deion Sanders is far from discouraged. He’s got a new agent, a fresh chance in Tampa Bay, and a chip on his shoulder. And if his confidence, experience, and personality are any indication, Sanders’ next chapter might be his most entertaining yet.
Shilo Sanders Moving to Florida To Earn a Roster Spot in Tampa
Sanders had a shot to go late in the 2025 NFL Draft, and while he ended up going undrafted, he still has a chance to make a team.
Right after the draft ended, Sanders joked on Twitch about firing his dad as his agent. He said it in good fun, admitting that having Deion as his agent hadn’t “worked out too good.” So he signed with well-known agent Drew Rosenhaus.
Rosenhaus announced the move on X and quickly got Sanders a spot with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Head coach Todd Bowles said he got a call from Deion Sanders, thanking him for giving his son a chance. Shilo, who’s played six years of college football, is an older rookie at 25 but brings a ton of experience.
After signing with the Bucs, Sanders chatted with fans about moving to Florida. When they asked about fishing, he joked:
“Nah, I’m not fishing in Tampa, bruh. I will never go fishing anywhere in Florida. Mess around and take my Dad fishing, an alligator’s gonna take the rest of his toes. He don’t got enough toes to play around with, bruh.”

That comment referred to Deion’s surgery in 2021, when he had two toes amputated because of blood circulation problems in his left foot. He developed blood clots after a routine surgery, which caused long-term issues.
But that hasn’t slowed Deion down. He’s still building up the Colorado Buffaloes, who had four players drafted in 2025 — more than the last four years combined.
Four more, including Shilo, quickly signed undrafted free agent deals.
The Buccaneers have seven safeties on the roster but didn’t draft one in 2025. Antoine Winfield Jr. leads the group and is expected to start alongside Christian Izien, who’s started the last two seasons.
The team also has depth with Kaevon Merriweather, Marcus Banks, and Rashad Wisdom. Sanders is one of two UDFAs added at the position, the other being J.J. Roberts from Marshall. Roberts played three seasons at Wake Forest before transferring to Marshall in 2023.
