Serena Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian recently gave fans a heartwarming glimpse into a cherished Sunday tradition he shares with his seven-year-old daughter, Olympia. In a clip posted on social media, the entrepreneur showed off Olympia’s growing pancake-making skills, a talent she’s been developing under her dad’s guidance. Adding to the fun, he also shared a hilarious mishap she made while crafting one of her pancakes.
Ohanian’s ‘Papa Pancakes’ tradition with his daughter Olympia has become a cherished part of their Sunday mornings. Inspired by his father’s ritual of making pancakes every week, the entrepreneur has taken the practice forward with his daughter by incorporating creative shapes, cartoon characters, and even alphabet letters into his flapjacks.
Not only has this turned breakfast into an artistic adventure, but it has also doubled as a fun educational tool, helping Olympia strengthen her reading skills. Ohanian also encourages his older daughter to take the lead in the activity.

Sharing the latest chapter of their tradition, Ohanian took to his Instagram Stories to post a sweet clip of Olympia proudly crafting a pancake spelling out the word, “Sunset.” Clearly impressed with her progress, he captioned the story:
“My #PapaPancakes job is getting easier every week.”

However, not everything went off without a hitch — Olympia accidentally wrote the letters in the wrong orientation. In a separate Instagram post, Ohanian poked fun at the adorable mishap, writing:
“@olympiaohanian learned the hard way today that you gotta draw the mirror version of letters when making #PapaPancakes.”

Serena Williams’ Husband Alexis Ohanian Discussed His ‘Fanatical’ Pancake Art Ritual With Daughter Olympia
Alexis Ohanian discussed his special tradition of making pancake art for his daughter, Olympia, in November. He joked that he often sacrificed taste for creativity, leading his older daughter to believe pancakes were supposed to look and taste the way they did when they made them together at home.
“With pancakes, they taste okay. They are not the best possible tasting,” Ohanian said. “Why? Part of it’s the consistency. To make them in the squeeze bottle, to make the art I want them to make, they can’t be too fluffy.”
“Because as they expand, they start to distort the image,” he added. “So basically, the pancake batter that I make doesn’t taste great. It tastes fine, but Olympia doesn’t know any better. She just thinks that’s what pancakes look and taste like.”
The 42-year-old added that once Olympia showed real interest, he felt driven to improve his skills, even purchasing a commercial-grade crepe maker from a French grandmother.
“The fact that she showed any interest in my pancake art meant I need to be the best pancake artist I can,” the entrepreneur said. “Oh, my baby likes crepes, those are just skinny pancakes. Papa can make those too. So then I get a commercial-grade crepe thing and I perfect the batter. I got it from a French grandmother. I am fanatical. If she shows an interest, I am becoming the expert.”
Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian are parents to two daughters, with their second daughter Adira being born in 2023.
