Tate Ratledge’s NFL Draft Scouting Report

Tate Ratledge’s evaluation involves a lot of back-and-forth, but he undoubtedly has a path to becoming a solid if unspectacular NFL starter. A two-time National Champion with 37 starts at right guard to his name, experience is a strength of Ratledge’s, but the 24-year old rookie also missed time to lower-body injuries multiple times in his career.

He’s an elite athlete with rare explosiveness, agility, and second-level mobility, but at almost 6’7″, with arms just over 32″, his build is a bit unorthodox. He plays taller than preferred, and can be coaxed into lurching with his average reach, and those two issues can impact his balance and leverage.

Nevertheless, Ratledge makes up for these flaws with his athleticism, football IQ, flexibility, and grating physicality, and he should be able to carve out a respectable starting career.

Tate Ratledge’s Latest NFL Draft Projection

PFSN’s Ian Cummings projected that Ratledge would be picked 77th overall by the New England Patriots in his latest seven-round mock draft.

Cummings said, “Injuries, age, and a below-average wingspan could push Tate Ratledge down the board, but he has the makings of an athletic, tone-setting long-term starter at guard for the Patriots.”

Where Does Tate Ratledge Rank Among 2025’s OG Prospects?

Here are the top 10 iOL rankings for the 2025 NFL Draft, according to PFSN Draft Analyst Ian Cummings:

1. Grey Zabel, North Dakota State
2. Tyler Booker, Alabama
3. Donovan Jackson, Ohio State
4. Jonah Savaiinaea, Arizona
5. Marcus Mbow, Purdue
6. Tate Ratledge, Georgia
7. Emery Jones Jr., LSU
8. Aireontae Ersery, Minnesota
9. Jared Wilson, Georgia
10. Charles Grant, William & Mary

Tate Ratledge hangs his hat on being one of the more athletic and experienced guard prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft, though he could’ve started more games if not for multiple injuries over his five-year career with the Georgia Bulldogs.

Medicals and age will be potential red flags for teams in Ratledge’s evaluation; he’ll be 24 years old at the start of the 2025 campaign. He also has abnormally short arms and a narrow wingspan for his 6’6 1/2″ frame, which can lead him to over-extend and lurch.

Having said all this, Ratledge is exceedingly quick off the snap, with superb awareness, assignment discipline, and physicality. He stays square to opponents and can anchor with his core. He’ll never have an elite power element, but he profiles as a serviceable starter.
