Why Carlos Alcaraz’s One Particular Act Made His Agent ‘Very Angry’ With Him at Madrid Open Last Year

Carlos Alcaraz’s agent shared a candid anecdote about a moment when he was furious with the young tennis star.

Carlos Alcaraz’s Netflix docuseries, ‘My Way,’ is making waves after its April 23 release. The three-part series explores the Spaniard’s potential to become the greatest tennis player in history. The docuseries highlights several key moments from Alcaraz’s journey last year, including a notable incident involving him and his agent, Albert Molina.

In the docuseries, Molina reveals the reason he was upset with the World No. 3 during the Madrid Open last year.

Why Carlos Alcaraz Made His Agent Albert Molina Angry on Tour

Alcaraz is among the rapidly growing players in the modern era. Despite his youth, he’s made significant strides, securing 18 tour titles, including 4 Grand Slam titles. His latest documentary also highlights the crucial role played by his team, including his coach, Juan Carlos Ferrero, manager Albert Molina, and others.

Alcaraz withdrew from the Barcelona Open last year due to a right arm injury. How he dealt with the ordeal is well documented in the first episode. The Spaniard later addressed the press and pledged to be back in Madrid. After recovering, he returned to the Madrid Open as the defending champion but ended up being late for the tournament’s presentation, making Molina angry.

“That day, I was very angry with Carlos. But it wasn’t about punctuality. For me, it was more a lack of respect for other people. And that’s something I can’t tolerate with Carlos. It doesn’t matter if you’re the best in the world because no one should have to wait for you, Carlos,” Molina said in the first episode (at 20:00).

“In the end we’re talking about a kid with a lot of responsibilities he didn’t ask for. But it is important he understands that all of us around him, everything we say and do is for his own good,” he added.

Carlos Alcaraz Has Withdrawn From the 2025 Madrid Open

Alcaraz has withdrawn from the 2025 Madrid Open due to right adductor and left hamstring injuries he sustained during his run to the final in Barcelona. The 21-year-old, who holds a win-loss record of 24-5 in 2025, gave the shocking update during his pre-tournament press conference on Thursday, April 24.

Notably, Alcaraz has won the Madrid Open twice in his career. His most recent appearance came at the Barcelona Open final against Holger Rune, where he received treatment for his upper right leg. Alcaraz lost the match 7-6(6), 6-2 despite his best efforts.

The Spaniard has won two ATP titles this season, a 500 event in Rotterdam and a Masters 1000 event in Monte-Carlo.
