Deion Sanders Makes Last-Ditch Effort To Boost Son Shilo’s Stock in 2025 NFL Draft

Deion Sanders and Shedeur Sanders might be getting all the buzzworthy headlines but keep an eye on Shilo Sanders at the 2025 NFL Draft.

Deion Sanders and Shedeur Sanders have clogged up the talk-show circuit for months and months. However, one rarely covered aspect of the Sanders’ clan is that another member of the family tree is getting ready to join the NFL.

Shilo Sanders — a defensive back at the University of Colorado, playing under the tutelage of his famous NFL dad — is getting ready to join the professional ranks as a safety. Deion recently jumped on social media to share a key stat about his son.

Deion Sanders Shares Shilo’s Tweet on Turnovers

Shilo Sanders remains a wild card in this year’s draft class, meaning that nobody is quite sure what round he may get selected in. His stock soar after running the 40-yard dash in 4.48 seconds, hand-timed — although his official time was clocked at 4.52 seconds.

Either way, Shilo sent out a tweet on April 22 to remind the public of what might be his greatest selling point. He recorded 15 total turnovers during stints at Jackson State, South Carolina, and Colorado. Shilo has the fourth-most turnovers among safeties, including six interceptions and seven forced fumbles.

Shilo wrote: “Turnovers win games. Somebody’s getting a dawg this week! Believe that.”

His post was a screenshot of a list of the top-ranked players in terms of total turnovers created. Deion saw the post and, with just a quick tap of his fingers, reposted it for all 1.8 million followers to see. Before helping his son, the message reached 45,000 followers.

PFSN Scouting Report: Late-Round Pick?

Sanders’ reposted statistics don’t quite tell the entire picture. In the numbers pulled, Shilo was credited with six interceptions, seven forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries to give him 15 total takeaways.

Most of those numbers come from his time at Jackson State which is part of the Football Subdivision Championship (FCS). Shilo only recorded one interception during 34 combined games in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), which is the higher tier of college football.

In his two years with the South Carolina Gamecocks, Shilo had no sacks or interceptions while causing no fumbles or fumble recoveries. At Colorado, Shilo increased his production ever so slightly. He tallied one interception (pick-six touchdown return) along with three fumble recoveries and five forced fumbles.

Remember, Shilo wasn’t invited to the NFL Combine. PFSN’s Jacob Infante scouted him as a late-round pick who could find a home quickly as an undrafted rookie free agent.

Infante wrote: “With a couple factors playing against him, Sanders feels like a late-round pick, at best. His tape indicates he could be worthy of a selection late in Round 6 or some time in Round 7.

“The fact he didn’t earn an invitation to the Combine indicates the NFL consensus sees him going undrafted, though he certainly should have his fair share of suitors in undrafted free agency.”
