Trey Amos’ NFL Draft Scouting Report

Trey Amos excelled against SEC competition, showing he can hang physically and mentally with the best in college football. The combination of size, length and athleticism makes Amos a prototypical boundary cornerback from a physical perspective.

He naturally has a larger catch radius and can make impressive plays on the ball with his proactivity, but also moves as fast as a cornerback who’s a few inches shorter. As a tackler in space, Amos’ form isn’t incredibly consistent yet. But as a coverage CB, he’s one of the more well-rounded in the class.

He’s quick, fluid, and malleable in man coverage, a smooth mover and stellar processor in zone, and the type of athlete who can match laterally and limit vertical separation in the same rep. A productive career as a starter should be in his future.

Trey Amos’ Latest NFL Draft Projection

PFSN’s Ian Cummings projected that Amos would be picked 26th overall by the Los Angeles Rams in his latest seven-round mock draft.

Cummings said, “Trey Amos has plenty of eyes as a desired Round 2 target across the NFL Draft community. I don’t know if he makes it beyond the top-32 picks. Amos is a top-25 talent on my board, and a scheme-diverse CB who should check the boxes for many CB-needy teams.

“For the Rams, Amos has the requisite size and athleticism at 6’1″, 195 pounds, with 32″ arms, and he’s a prolific two-phase playmaker, as his 2024 production showed. Resembling A.J. Terrell Jr., he’s quick and fluid in man coverage, and heady and adaptable in zone.”

Where Does Trey Amos Rank Among 2025’s CB Prospects?

Here are the top 10 CB rankings for the 2025 NFL Draft, according to PFSN Draft Analyst Ian Cummings:

10. Maxwell Hairston, Kentucky
9. Denzel Burke, Ohio State
8. Darien Porter, Iowa State
7. Benjamin Morrison, Notre Dame
6. Azareye’h Thomas, Florida State
5. Shavon Revel, East Carolina
4. Trey Amos, Ole Miss
3. Jahdae Barron, Texas
2. Will Johnson, Michigan
1. Travis Hunter, Colorado

An early starter in his career at Louisiana, it took time for Amos to fully adjust to Power Four pace and physicality. Once he did, however, he became a potential first-round prospect. Amos was dominant in 2024, accruing three INTs, 13 PBUs, and four TFLs.

Amos isn’t always included in the top group of CBs, but he grades in the same cluster as Johnson and Barron on my board. At around 6’1″, 195 pounds, with 32″ arms, he has an ideal build, which he pairs with easy fluidity, crisp agility, and gap-erasing burst and speed.

As enticing as Amos’ talent is, his operational game is even more so. He’s an elite route processor in zone who can peel off and make plays in man. His athletic makeup compares favorably to A.J. Terrell, and if he can improve his sink on comebacks, the sky is the limit.
