Deion Sanders’ son, Shilo Sanders, often flies under the radar. He did not receive the same attention as his brother, Shedeur, heading into the 2025 NFL Draft.
However, he was still an intriguing prospect. Unfortunately, he went undrafted, but later signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent. As he prepares for his NFL journey, let’s learn more about Sanders’ siblings.
Meet Shilo Sanders’ 4 siblings: Shedeur, Deion Jr., Deiondra, and Shelomi
Shilo entered the 2025 NFL Draft along with his brother, Shedeur. Shedeur quarterbacked the Buffaloes for two seasons following the hiring of Deion Sanders — Shilo and Shedeur’s father — as Colorado’s head coach.
Shedeur finished his Colorado career with 7,364 passing yards and 64 touchdowns in 24 games. He completed nearly 72% of his passes while throwing 13 interceptions during his time in Boulder.
Many believed Shedeur to be one of the top quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft before he slid out of the first round. He’d gone ninth overall to the New Orleans Saints in PFSN’s most recent NFL Mock Draft. He was ultimately selected in the fifth round by the Cleveland Browns after an unprecedented draft slide.
Shilo has three other siblings: Deion Jr., Deiondra, and Shelomi. Deion Jr. played collegiate football as well. He was a wide receiver at SMU for three seasons from 2013 to 2015. However, SMU rarely used him in the pass game. Instead, Deion Jr. was used as a kick returner.
He finished his SMU career with 1,501 yards on 70 returns in 25 games. He did not score a touchdown as a returner. As a receiver, he racked up 233 yards and no touchdowns on 30 catches in 25 career games.
Shelomi is a women’s college basketball player. She began her career at Jackson State before transferring to Colorado midway through the 2022-23 season. She only appeared in five games with the Buffaloes, however, leading to another transfer.
Shelomi joined Alabama A&M ahead of the 2024-25 campaign. She saw playing time in 26 games this past season. However, she only averaged around four minutes a game. Shelomi averaged 1.2 points per game while shooting 15.4% from the three-point line in her limited playing time.
Deiondra, unlike her siblings, is not a college athlete. She is a director of communications for a sports agency, according to Marca. According to her LinkedIn page, Deiondra has held this position for nearly six years.
The former Colorado star ran a 4.95 40-yard dash at Colorado’s Pro Day, and now he will aim to make a mark in the NFL with the Buccaneers.
Pressure Mounts on Sanders Amid Battle for Roster Spot
Since Sanders was an undrafted free agent, he is not a lock to make the Buccaneers’ 53-man roster. As a result, he needed a strong training camp followed by good performances in the preseason games to earn a spot.
So far, he has played in both of the Buccaneers’ preseason games. He played in the first one against the Tennessee Titans, but had an underwhelming performance in preseason Week 2 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Sanders finished with a tackle and a quarterback hit in the Buccaneers’ 29-7 win against the Titans. Against the Steelers, he recorded two solo tackles but faced criticism from fans on social media for his play.
Injuries to Tampa Bay’s secondary have opened a path for the former Colorado star to make the roster. However, his performance against the Steelers did him no favors. The Buccaneers’ last preseason game against the Buffalo Bills is of utmost importance for Sanders, and if he fails to play well, he will likely start the season on the practice squad instead of the main roster.
