TreVeyon Henderson’s path to stardom wasn’t just about personal ambition — it was about lifting his entire family. With one brother already having blazed a trail through college football and another quickly rising through the high school ranks, Henderson is the middle piece of a trio built on grit, talent, and a deep sense of purpose. Growing up wasn’t easy, but the Henderson boys turned obstacles into fuel, each finding his way to shine on the field.

From tight living quarters and harsh surroundings in Hopewell, Va., the family found direction through football. Henderson and his brothers, Ronnie Walker Jr. and Kesean Henderson, were raised primarily by their mother, Lakeesha Hayes-Winfield, after she and their father, Trenton Henderson, split up. Hayes-Winfield had to work two jobs just to make ends meet.
The family of four lived in a shared bedroom in a small house in Hopewell, in a rough neighborhood. Crime was common — even the street next to theirs saw plenty of trouble during the pandemic. Keeping her children occupied with sports was the only way she could find peace and try to secure their futures.
“Hopewell is a small city, and everyone I grew up with is either in the streets or in jail,” TreVeyon said. “We definitely grew up rough. My mom’s motivation is just to raise us into great men and make sure that we get out of here and don’t end up on the streets. She wants us to do something with our lives and not end up on the streets.”
Henderson’s older brother, Walker Jr., was the first to make his mark in college football. As a 5-foot-11, 210-pound running back, he played for the Indiana Hoosiers from 2018 to 2019, transferred to West Virginia from 2020 to 2022, and finished his career at Utah Tech in 2023.
Henderson’s younger brother, Kesean, is also carrying the family legacy forward. He has a strong grasp of the game and plays several positions in high school, including wide receiver, quarterback, running back, and linebacker. He was named MVP of the 2025 Navy All-American Bowl.
Coming out of the Legacy School of Sport Sciences in Spring, Texas, Kesean is a five-star recruit in the Class of 2026 and has committed to play quarterback at the University of Houston.
Henderson’s College Career, NFL Draft Projection
Staying true to his hometown, Henderson played high school football at Hopewell High School. As a five-star recruit, he drew attention from every major program in the country. He was also a dual-sport athlete and one of the fastest in Virginia.
Henderson enrolled at Ohio State and made an immediate impact as a true freshman. He started 11 of 13 games, rushed for 1,248 yards, and broke Archie Griffin’s record for most touchdowns from scrimmage in a season with 19. Injuries slowed him in his sophomore and junior years, but he was still considered one of the top backs in college football. Many analysts expected him to enter the 2024 NFL Draft, but Henderson chose to return for his senior season.
