Ashton Jeanty is one of the few blue-chip prospects entering the 2025 NFL Draft. As a Heisman Trophy finalist coming off one of the greatest seasons for a running back in recent college football history, Jeanty is earning a ton of hype, and rightfully so.
For a lot of people, there is a chance that the Boise State superstar ends up being a top-10 pick as the revival of the running back position continues to intensify.
But if he does fall out of that group, immediately waiting in line at No. 12 are “America’s Team,” the Dallas Cowboys. It would be a perfect fit.
Could Ashton Jeanty Join the Dallas Cowboys?
Born in Jacksonville, Fla., Jeanty moved around multiple times thanks to his dad’s job as a U.S. Navy chief petty officer. Relocating from Chesapeake, Va., to Naples, Italy, his childhood took him to a lot of places.
Eventually, he ended up at Lone Star High School in Frisco, Texas, where he played football for three years before joining the Boise State Broncos for what would turn out to be a legendary collegiate run.
Now, with a chance to return to Texas on the board, the Maxwell Award winner broke down how he felt about potentially joining the Cowboys in an interview with RG.
“It would be dope, man. Most guys, they would love to play for their hometown team, just because of growing up there. But any opportunity for any team in the NFL is going to be great,” Jeanty said.
The latest mock draft from PFSN, however, has him coming off the board sooner. Instead, he is picked up by the Chicago Bears at No. 10, as PFSN’s Ian Cummings describes the decision as a Ben Johnson special to ensure they can have an elite offense.
“The Chicago Bears acquired Joe Thuney, Drew Dalman, and Jonah Jackson in the early months of 2025. Ben Johnson is striving to have an elite two-phase offense, and nothing less in his first year. They have most of the pieces in place. A difference-maker at RB is next up,” Cummings wrote.
Arizona WR Tetairoa McMillan Predicted To Join Cowboys
A year that saw him tally mind-boggling numbers of 2,601 rushing yards and 29 touchdowns makes him exactly that — a difference maker. And, even in the scenario where he doesn’t end up in Dallas, the reigning Doak Walker Award winner has the perfect mindset.
“It’s wherever you land, you don’t get to decide,” Jeanty added. “It’s whatever happens that day, honestly. I’m just really excited to see where I go. Hopefully it’s a great situation, and hopefully it’s an organization that I’m a fit for.”
Meanwhile, the Cowboys are predicted to land Arizona wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan in PFSN’s seven-round mock draft.
“It’s anyone’s guess who the first WR off the board is in the 2025 NFL Draft, but Tetairoa McMillan still has a compelling case with his size-athleticism profile and his multi-year production. In Dallas, he’d fit perfectly alongside CeeDee Lamb as a high-end WR2,” Cummings wrote.
