Seahawks GM John Schneider Takes Hilarious 9-Word Shot At Former Commanders Owner Dan Snyder

John Schneider, who previously served as executive for Washington Redskins, took a dig at former Commanders owner Dan Snyder.

The dysfunction of the Washington Commanders when Dan Snyder was the owner of the team is well known in the NFL. A year after he left, the Commanders reached their first NFC Championship game in 34 years.

In addition to the controversies Snyder was involved in outside football, he used to have a broken relationship with his coaches and general managers, as evident by John Schneider’s latest dig at the billionaire.

John Schneider’s Hilarious 9-Word Shot at Dan Snyder

Schneider was speaking during an appearance on Seattle Sports, and while discussing the great attitude of the Seahawks’ owner, Jody Allen, one of the hosts said she wasn’t like the Dallas Cowboys’ owner, who interfered in the draft process.

The host then asked Schneider how he would handle an owner who interfered in the draft process, and replied:

“I worked for the Washington Redskins for a year.”

Schneider was the Vice president of player personnel for then Washington Redskins for a year in 2001. He then served as top personnel aide to the general manager at the Green Bay Packers before taking the Director of Football Operations position in 2008-09.

Schneider has been the Seahawks’ general manager since 2010 and led them their first Super Bowl title in 2014. The team has had ten winning seasons out of 15 since he arrived, resulting in his position as president of football operations in 2024.

Schneider was very active in the offseason after Seattle failed to make the playoffs last season, parting ways with Tyler Lockett, DK Metcalf, and Geno Smith, among others. Seattle added Sam Darnold as Smith’s replacement, but the Seahawks received one of the worst Free Agency Grades from PFSN.

“Seattle Seahawks fans are likely to be nervous about what they have seen during the first portion of this offseason. Sam Darnold is technically a slight upgrade on Geno Smith in terms of QB+ from last season, having ranked 12th compared to 15th for Smith. However, Darnold comes with a lot more risk than Smith, and that is scary, but he also comes with a higher ceiling if they put the right pieces around him.

“The issue for the Seahawks is that they have allowed both Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf to depart, signing Cooper Kupp to pair with Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Smith-Njigba is talented, but asking him to be the No. 1 is a big step, while Kupp’s injury history and potential redundancy in the slot with JSN make him far from a slam-dunk add.

“The Seahawks retained some key pieces on defense in Ernest Jones IV and Jarran Reed but then signed DeMarcus Lawrence to a puzzling $14 million per year deal for three years. The 33-year-old Lawrence only projects as a rotational edge rusher at this stage of his career, but the Seahawks are paying him to be far more than that.”

The Seahawks are picking 18th overall in the 2025 NFL Draft and have 10 picks. They are widely projected to take an offensive player in the first round of the draft on April 24.
