Meet Cam Ward’s 3 Siblings: Alton, Aaliyah and Chantel

Cam Ward was born on May 25, 2002, in West Columbia-Angleton, Texas. He’s the youngest of four kids and the son of Calvin and Patrice Ward.

His dad, Calvin, played football in high school and now works as a fuel buyer at a nuclear power plant, according to Dane Brugler’s “The Beast.” His mom, Patrice, is a retired special education teacher and used to be the head coach of the girls’ basketball team at Columbia High School.

Cam’s older brother, Alton, graduated from Texas A&M and earned his master’s degree from Georgetown University. His sister Aaliyah is a science teacher and the head girls’ basketball coach at Columbia High School in West Columbia, Texas.

His other sister, Chantel, made her mark in track and field, setting shot put records at Houston Christian University — 44 feet, 11 ½ inches indoors and 47-4.25 outdoors — before transferring to San Jose State. She now works as an assistant track and field coach at Houston Baptist.

Ward’s College Career Overview and Draft Projection

Cam Ward came into college football as an unranked recruit out of Texas, but he worked his way up and had a breakout 2024 season. That year, he became one of the top players in the country and a Heisman contender alongside Ashton Jeanty and Travis Hunter.

Ward has the tools teams want in a modern quarterback. He’s got the frame, the athleticism, and a calm presence in the pocket. Sometimes, he even looks too relaxed under pressure. But that poise, paired with smart decision-making and polished throwing mechanics, gives him serious upside.

One of Ward’s biggest strengths is his deep ball. He can throw from different arm angles and off-balance, which NFL teams love. He’s most dangerous when pushing the ball downfield and testing defenses vertically.

He’s not a finished product yet. Ward still needs to get quicker at making decisions, especially when plays break down. Sometimes, he holds the ball too long and ends up creating his own pressure. But when things go according to plan, he’s cool and in control.

In 2024, Ward threw for 4,313 yards, 39 touchdowns, and just seven interceptions. Those numbers, along with his skill set, have made him the clear favorite to be the first quarterback off the board. Most projections have him landing with the Tennessee Titans as the No. 1 overall pick. He’s a high-ceiling prospect with the tools to become one of the league’s best in the years ahead.
