Dolphins GM Chris Grier Addresses Tyreek Hill Trade Rumors and Hints at Potential Asking Price

With the annual Tyreek Hill trade rumors back on the market, where does Miami Dolphins GM Chris Grier stand? Does he have an asking price?

The Tyreek Hill saga seems to be a constant fixture for the Miami Dolphins. For the past year, rumors of a potential trade for the superstar wide receiver have constantly made the rounds, with Hill himself doing everything in his power to stoke the flames.

Thanks to his online personality, the former Kansas City Chiefs superstar has made it a mission to point out every report regarding a potential trade, albeit in a hilarious, trolling manner.

But at the end of the 2024 NFL season, there seemed to be some genuine doubt about Hill’s future in Miami. Today, general manager Chris Grier gave us his piece of mind on the subject.

Chris Grier on a Potential Tyreek Hill Trade

Hill came to the Dolphins as part of one of the most shocking trades in modern NFL history when the Chiefs parted ways with him during the 2022 offseason. Since then, he has gone on to have the two best individual years of his career, while Kansas City has appeared in each Super Bowl since the trade.

However, the Dolphins as a whole haven’t had the same level of success, never advancing past the Wild Card round. After missing the playoffs entirely last season, the former Super Bowl champion finding a new home became a real possibility.

Speaking to the media, Grier broke down where things currently stand.

“That is not anything that we’re pursuing. Like I said, if some team were to come offering two first-round picks then we’d consider it. But nothing right now, it’s nothing we’re pursuing.”

Since coming over, Hill has been nothing short of excellent for Miami. In his first two years, he tallied consecutive 1,700+ receiving yards seasons, with 2023 being one of the greatest in modern history as he racked up 1,799 yards and 13 touchdowns in 16 games.

Last year, while battling through injuries himself, and with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa missing a chunk of the season, Hill’s numbers took a dip (959 yards and six touchdowns in 17 games). And with Miami missing the playoffs entirely, it also led to a combustible final interview in the locker room from the eight-time Pro Bowler.

“This is my first time I haven’t been in the playoffs, man. So, I just got to do what’s best for me and my family. If that’s here or wherever the case may be, I’m finna open that door for myself,” Hill said.

However, over the course of the offseason, Hill has course-corrected. Speaking to Kay Adams on the” Up & Adams” podcast, he issued an apology to Tagovailoa in particular, stating, “This is my public apology to you, Tua. I love you, bro.”

Moreover, speaking to Pro Football Talk as well, Hill made his intentions of returning clear. “I’m taking full accountability for what I said. I’m gonna come back next year. I wanna stay with the Dolphins.”

Unless his mind has changed since then, it looks like both the player and management are in agreement about keeping him around.
