What Direction Will the Cleveland Browns Go in for the 2025 NFL Draft?

According to ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler, the Browns have narrowed their focus to four top prospects: Penn State linebacker Abdul Carter, Colorado cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter, Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders, and Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham.

Fowler shared his insights, saying, “They are mysterious right now, and I think they like to be. They are enjoying this process. The Browns have spent significant time with Abdul Carter in the last few weeks in this process. He has felt the love and connection with that team.”

“So, if time invested tells us anything, he would very well be the pick opposite, Myles Garrett. But they have a shortlist: Shedeur Sanders is on it, Travis Hunter is on it, Mason Graham, the big defensive tackle from Michigan, is on it.”

Strengthening the Defense: Abdul Carter and Mason Graham

Abdul Carter stood out at Penn State, earning Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2024. The linebacker recorded 43 solo tackles, 12 sacks, and two forced fumbles last season, showcasing his ability to disrupt offenses and make game-changing plays. Adding Carter to the Browns’ defense would create a dynamic duo with Myles Garrett, giving Cleveland a formidable front seven capable of dominating opposing offenses.

Mason Graham, the defensive tackle from Michigan, is another candidate to bolster the Browns’ defense. Graham, who stands at 6’3″ and weighs 320 pounds, is a force in the trenches. In 2024, he tallied 24 solo tackles and three-and-a-half sacks, proving his ability to stop the run and pressure quarterbacks. His presence on the interior line would address one of Cleveland’s most significant weaknesses and make life easier for Garrett.

Offensive Needs: Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter

On the offensive side, the Browns have several holes to fill, and Shedeur Sanders could be the answer at quarterback. The Colorado standout had an impressive 2024 season, completing 74% of his passes for 4,134 yards, 37 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.

Sanders’ accuracy and poise in the pocket make him one of the most pro-ready quarterbacks in this draft class. While Deshaun Watson remains the starter, drafting Sanders could secure the Browns’ future at the most crucial position in football.

Travis Hunter is another intriguing option, the Heisman Trophy-winning two-way star from Colorado. As a wide receiver, Hunter caught 96 passes for 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2024 while excelling as a cornerback with four interceptions.

His versatility and playmaking ability would give the Browns a dynamic weapon on both sides of the ball. On offense, he could provide the explosiveness of Cleveland’s receiving corps, which has been missing, while on defense, he could lock down opposing receivers.

A Franchise-Defining Decision

The Browns’ decision at No. 2 will shape the franchise’s future. Whether they strengthen their defense with Carter or Graham or address offensive needs with Sanders or Hunter, they can add a game-changing talent.

Cleveland’s fans will watch closely as the team navigates this critical moment, hoping the pick will help propel the Browns to new heights. With such a shortlist, the Browns are in a position to make a selection that could redefine their trajectory.
