A civil engineer by profession and a former junior-level tennis and soccer player, Henry Egbuka set the bar high for his son. According to his LinkedIn profile, he currently works as a project manager for the U.S. Army.
“I would say my dad was very instrumental in my role of growing up. He’s definitely laid the groundwork for what it looks like for me to be a man and someone I could try to be like every day,” Emeka said about his father.

Early on, Emeka actually liked baseball more than football. He won a national Pitch, Hit & Run competition in 2011 at just 8 years old and was named the top baseball player in the country at the time. But by high school, football became his true calling. He finished as the No. 1 wide receiver in his class and credits his determination and work ethic to meeting the expectations his father set.

“Your last name’s Egbuka, and it means something,” Henry would tell his son to motivate him to be his best self. Since Emeka graduated from Steilacoom High School as a five-star recruit, Henry is often seen at his son’s practices and games with his wife, Rhonda.

Rhonda Ogilvier, Emeka’s mom, is an American native. She earned her master’s degree in 2002, according to her LinkedIn profile. She has worked as the director of Enterprise Data Warehouse at Kaiser Permanente since 2013. She’s also mom to Emeka’s siblings, Keenan and Eva.

The Egbuka family welcomed a baby girl, Zayna, in November 2024. “Happy Thanksgiving. We have so much to be thankful for—especially for our little princess who is truly God’s miracle gift,” Henry captioned his Instagram post announcing Zayna’s birth.

Emeka has repeatedly emphasized how important his family has been in shaping both his athletic career and his identity. As he heads into a new chapter in the NFL, their constant support remains a driving force by his side.
