With few wide receivers left on the free agent market and a thin draft class at the position, options are limited for teams in need of wideouts for the 2025 season.
But one familiar name is aiming for a return — former Pro Bowl receiver Hunter Renfrow is attempting an NFL comeback and is drawing interest from multiple teams.
Hunter Renfrow Attempting NFL Comeback
“Comeback? Former #Raiders WR Hunter Renfrow, who did not play football last year but is still just 29 years old, is visiting his old team the #Raiders today,” NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reported.
Renfrow last played in 2023 with the Las Vegas Raiders, appearing in all 17 games and recording 25 catches for 255 yards and no touchdowns.
“The SC native also visited the #Panthers Wednesday and could do more,” Rapoport added. “He plans to play in 2025.”

Across five seasons — all with the Las Vegas Raiders — Renfrow has totaled 269 receptions, 2,884 yards, and 17 touchdowns. His best season came in 2021, when he caught 103 passes for 1,038 yards and nine scores, earning his first Pro Bowl nod.
Known for his reliable hands and route-running, the former Clemson standout turns 30 in December.
Earlier this offseason, there were reports Renfrow was retiring, but he shut those down.
“Just when I thought about making a comeback, I get hit with this bombshell…… guess I shouldn’t have started working out again 2 months ago, lol,” Renfrow posted on X.

A reunion in Las Vegas would give head coach Pete Carroll and quarterback Geno Smith another veteran pass catcher in their first year together. Renfrow would join an offense that already includes Brock Bowers, Jakobi Meyers, Raheem Mostert, Tre Tucker, and Michael Mayer.
In PFSN’s latest mock draft, Ben Rolfe has the Raiders selecting running back Ashton Jeanty with the No. 6 overall pick.
“The Las Vegas Raiders have had an intriguing offseason,” Rolfe said. “They’ve addressed several needs and set themselves up nicely with the No. 6 pick in terms of their options. With needs at running back, wide receiver, cornerback, and defensive tackle, they should be able to address at least one of those needs in this spot.
“Ashton Jeanty will likely divide opinion among fans and analysts no matter who takes him,” Rolfe added.
“We’ve seen he’s a devastating back in college, but questions remain over the competition level and the value of a running back at sixth overall. Jeanty fills the Raiders’ biggest need and can be that dominating back for this offense under the Pete Carroll-Chip Kelly regime.”
Adding Smith, Renfrow, and Jeanty would certainly inject some life into an offense that finished 29th in PFSN’s Offense+ rankings last season, with a score of 64.6 (D).
Whether Renfrow returns to the Raiders remains to be seen, but with the market thinning out, he’ll be a name to watch as the offseason unfolds.
