Micah Parsons Fires Back at DeMarcus Lawrence for Questioning His Commitment to Cowboys

Cowboys star Micah Parsons responded to claims from ex-teammate DeMarcus Lawrence about his commitment to Dallas.

The Dallas Cowboys lost veteran defensive lineman DeMarcus Lawrence in NFL free agency. Lawrence signed a three-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks on the open market. It’s a hit to the Cowboys’ defensive front — but it’s a loss star pass rusher Micah Parsons doesn’t seem too upset about.

Parsons and Lawrence have gone back and forth on social media since the veteran’s move to Seattle. Lawrence has questioned Parsons’ commitment to the Cowboys, and both players have made it clear they don’t exactly agree on how things ended in Dallas.

This isn’t the first time Parsons’ commitment has been called out. Cowboys safety Malik Hooker raised similar concerns last summer. Now, with Lawrence weighing in, Parsons has once again responded — this time as he heads into 2025 expected to be the clear leader of the Dallas defense.

Cowboys’ Micah Parsons Responds to DeMarcus Lawrence’s Commitment Questions

Parsons addressed the situation Friday. He’s heard the talk — especially from Lawrence — but he believes his performance speaks for itself.

“I think it’s ridiculous,” Parsons said, via Pro Football Talk. “You watch the tape. There’s no question I’m locked in. I’m giving my actual best effort out there on the field, which I think is all that matters. I have an obligation to be the leader of my family, to take care of my family, and that’s to provide for them. I keep the main thing the main thing. But I like off-field adventures, too.”

“Everyone has their selection of how they want to deal with things. Some people drink. Some people smoke. I like to tweet. I like to be active and know about ball. I like to know what everyone else is doing. And that’s just me. I don’t drink. I don’t smoke. What I care about is the effort you give me on the football field, and that’s something you can’t question.

“I know I’m one of the best players, and as long as I’m performing that way, it shouldn’t matter. When you jump offside on the goal line, is that because I’m tweeting? I think it’s ridiculous, outrageous,” Parsons said.

Parsons might have plenty of off-field interests, but his on-field performance hasn’t suffered. He led all Cowboys defenders last season with 12 sacks and 12 tackles for loss. He was the only Dallas defender to post double digits in both categories.

Parsons has recorded at least 12 sacks in each of his four NFL seasons. The 2024 season marked a career low in sack total — but he also played in just 13 games, the fewest of his career.

There’s no question Parsons is a difference-maker on the Cowboys’ defensive line. As for the tension between him and Lawrence, the full story might never come out. But it’ll be worth watching how both players perform in 2025 — with plenty of eyes on Dallas.
