After a year’s hiatus with the New England Patriots, the fan-favorite Ezekiel Elliott made his return to the Dallas Cowboys earlier this year. However, things haven’t been going as planned.
For the first time in his career, Elliott missed a game despite being fit amid reports of him missing team meetings. Former Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant called out the entire nature of the events.
Reports on Ezekiel Elliott Have Dez Bryant Furious
The night before the kickoff against the Atlanta Falcons it was reported that Elliott would not be making the trip to the Peach State. One NFL Network reporter highlighted the cause behind the front office’s decision, stemming from Elliott’s “habitual tardiness.”
She further stated that Elliott has been “distracted” this season and has missed several team meetings. The final straw for Mike McCarthy and Co. was the meeting on Friday that the back did not show up for.
However, former Dallas wide receiver Dez Bryant understood that the inner workings of the Cowboys unit had been leaked and that he found it fishy. The three-time Pro Bowler took to X (formerly Twitter) to voice his opinions.
“I really hate this is reported because you and I both know it’s been far worst s**t that’s never been reported on certain players. I can recall a player missing a s**t ton of weeks of practice and it never hit the media… Wild s**t man,” he tweeted.

Mike McCarthy Breaks Silence on Elliott’s Healthy Scratch
The report of Elliott missing the team meetings and subsequently being dropped from the playing squad against the Falcons spread like wildfire. The Cowboys’ head coach opened up on his decision to The Athletic.
“There are things we all have to do in the workplace,” McCarthy said. “That’s what it is. That’s as far as I’m gonna go with it.”
He further highlighted the situation, saying, “[it’s] really a team discipline situation. It’s a mutual decision for Zeke not to make the trip.”
Elliott has started two games and played in seven for the Cowboys this season. He has rushed for 149 yards with a career-worst average of 3.1 yards per carry with two touchdowns to his name.
