Kirk Cousins’ Wife Sheds Light on Rivalry With Seahawks

Kirk’s wife revealed that she has known the Seahawks’ head coach, Mike Macdonald, for a long time. “I went to high school (Centennial) with Mike Mac… it makes for an extra fun rivalry,” Julie wrote on her Instagram account.

Centennial High School is located in Roswell, Ga. Julie and Macdonald attended the same college, the University of Georgia.

This is Macdonald’s first year as a head coach in the NFL. He previously worked as the Baltimore Ravens’ defensive coordinator for two seasons. In 2021, he was the defensive coordinator at Michigan.

The start of his time in Seattle has not been ideal. After winning the first three games of the season, the Seahawks lost the next three. Their defense is giving up an average of 25.0 points and 358.7 total yards of offense per game.

If Macdonald wants to win against the Falcons, his team’s defense needs to step up as Atlanta has scored 35+ points in its last two games. Cousins has found his footing and is playing quite well. In six games this year, the veteran quarterback has thrown for 1,598 yards, nine touchdowns, and five interceptions, completing 66.7% of his throws.

He signed a four-year, $180 million deal with the Falcons in free agency, and although many initially had doubts about Cousins, he has proven everyone wrong and has established a new culture in Atlanta.

More Details on Cousins’ Wife, Julie

Kirk met his wife Julie in 2012 through a mutual friend. They dated for a year and a half before getting engaged in 2013. The Falcons quarterback proposed on the balcony of the Speaker of the House’s office in the U.S. Capitol building, and the couple got married in 2014.

Julie was born in 1989 to Sue and Michael Hampton. As mentioned earlier, she is from Georgia; consequently, she attended the University of Georgia. Kirk and his wife had their first child in 2017, Cooper. They had their second son in 2019, named Turner.

The couple rose in popularity after Kirk starred on Netflix’s “Quarterback” series, which showed the life of the four-time Pro Bowler. The fans loved how they lived and how supportive Julie was of her husband.

Many believe Kirk’s decision to sign with the Falcons in free agency was slightly influenced by the fact that his wife’s family is from there. Hopefully, he will fulfill his dream of retiring with the Falcons and succeeding with the team.
