Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are on a bye this week. They started the season 5-0 and now have time to relax and get ready to build on their 11-game unbeaten streak, dating back to last season.
Mahomes was recently spotted at the Kansas City Royals vs. New York Yankees MLB playoff game in Kansas City and went viral for a funny moment with former teammate Gehrig Dieter.
He recently enjoyed time with his family in a zoo. Mahomes’ wife, Brittany, shared photos on her Instagram account, and the Chiefs quarterback also had a staring contest with a Lion in the zoo.

Patrick Mahomes Spends Time With Family During Bye Week
Here are some of the photos that Brittany shared on her account during the Chiefs’ bye week:

The Chiefs will return to practice on Monday, and until then, all their players will be doing various activities to recharge themselves for the rest of the season.
Kansas City has not played its best yet, but it is still unbeaten. In Week 7, the Chiefs will face the San Francisco 49ers in a rematch of last season’s Super Bowl. Mahomes has played the 49ers four times in his career (twice in the Super Bowl) and has not lost once.
In two regular-season games against them, the reigning Super Bowl MVP has thrown for 737 yards, six touchdowns, and one interception with a passer rating of 123.4. The Chiefs will be without Rashee Rice, who is set to miss the entire season. As a result, the team is expected to trade for a wide receiver before the trade deadline.
Mahomes Is the Favorite To Win NFL MVP Award
Despite a poor start to the season, Mahomes is the favorite to win the MVP award this season. The Chiefs are 5-0 and could potentially finish the season with the best record in the league.
If Mahomes plays just slightly better and limits the turnovers, he can easily win the third MVP award of his career. In five games, he has thrown for 1,235 yards, six touchdowns, and six interceptions while completing 69.4% of his passes.
The 29-year-old quarterback did play well in Week 5 against the New Orleans Saints. In the Chiefs’ 26-13 win, Mahomes threw for 331 yards and an unlucky interception that bounced off JuJu Smith-Schuster’s hand in the end zone. The Chiefs star completed 71.7% of his passes in that game, and he will hope to have the best game of his season against the 49ers next week.
Christian McCaffrey is ruled out for the game against the Chiefs. This further helps a dominant Chiefs defense that is giving up an average of just 17.0 points and 88.4 rushing yards per game this season.
