Drake London and Chris Olave are two wide receivers that people love but question if they are drafted too high. Their average draft position (ADP) is 23rd overall (London) and 24th overall (Olave). Both players are immensely talented, but only one of these players will be able to help pull our team to another level and dominate our fantasy football leagues this year. Let’s discuss both players and which one we should target for our 2024 fantasy football drafts.
2024 Fantasy Outlook For Chris Olave
Olave sits higher in our consensus rankings, so we will start with the New Orleans wide receiver. Olave ran the 13th most routes in the league and produced a modest stat line of 87 receptions, 1,123 yards, and five touchdowns. All three categories were 17th ranked or lower for Olave in 2023.
TruMedia does give us some hope for fantasy football, as Olave had the 12th-highest Air Yards Per Target (AY/Tar). He also turned 57 receptions into first downs for the Saints, the 11th-best in the NFL.
Olave has a chance to become the hyper-targeted alpha wide receiver for the Saints, who scored the ninth most points in the NFL last season. Let’s look around the Saints organization. We have an aging Alvin Kamara, a speedster in Rashid Shaheed who has to prove himself, A.T. Perry, who, according to his coach, struggles, and Taysom Hill. Olave has the ability to take over in New Orleans this season if everything clicks.
2024 Fantasy Outlook For Drake London
If you are an Atlanta Falcons pass catcher, there is always hype around your draft stock for fantasy football. This year is no different, as London has a chance to bounce back with his new quarterback, Kirk Cousins. Cousins is the best quarterback that London has had since entering the NFL, and we can finally see London’s skill set used correctly.
Last year, London only saw 110 targets, which led to a low 29th overall ranking for a wide receiver in the NFL. London ranked 41st overall in receptions with 69 and only produced two touchdowns, landing him with the 113th overall ranking in TruMedia.
The issue was the offensive scheme and the quarterback. Both have been upgraded this year to a more potent offensive scheme and a more accurate quarterback, allowing us to capitalize on his basketball-style play during contested catches and enjoy a true X wide receiver on our fantasy roster.
Who Should I Draft in 2024?
London will shake defenders and physically dominate on the field to help you dominate your fantasy league. His catch radius is immense, allowing you to have a chance at every ball thrown his way. He is due for positive regression in every significant category and has the size to convert now that a starting-caliber quarterback is throwing to him for the first time in his NFL career.
Olave is talented, but the Saints’ offense, although they scored the ninth most points, did most of its damage in a few weeks during 2023. The risk outweighs the reward in New Orleans, whereas the upside is beautiful in Atlanta.
