Podcast: Miami Dolphins’ Youth Movement Is in Full Swing

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — To steal a line from Pete Townshend, the Miami Dolphins‘ kids are alright.

While the Dolphins have the NFL‘s third-oldest roster, their most impressive players of training camp so far have largely been 20-somethings. We discuss that and much more in the latest PFN Miami Dolphins Podcast.

Miami Dolphins Training Camp Week 1 Recap

Certainly, Tyreek Hill is always going to stand out, and Emmanuel Ogbah deserves his flowers after looking like a new man in his return to Miami.

But they’re not the future of the Miami Dolphins.

Tua Tagovailoa is.

Jaylen Waddle is.

And as he has shown in a very short period of time, Chop Robinson is too.

Robinson, the Dolphins’ 2024 first-round draft pick, has been borderline unblockable in his first NFL training camp.

The outside linebacker out of Penn State has dominated his many matchups with fellow rookie Patrick Paul and has surely calmed some nerves inside the building about how the Dolphins’ pass rush will hold up if Jaelan Phillips and Bradley Chubb aren’t ready for the start of the season.

“Speed, fast; he’s a good rookie,” Ogbah said of Robinson recently. “He’s learning. He doesn’t say much, but he’s always wanting to learn, asking for advice and stuff, so I’m just here to help him out.”

Waddle and Tagovailoa probably don’t need a ton of coaching at this point. They’ve been teammates for a long time, dating back to college.

But Waddle seems poised to take his game to a whole new level in 2024. Any concern about his contract is behind him after signing a four-year, $84.5 million extension back in May.

He seems determined to earn every penny. Waddle has caught most everything thrown his way this camp, and has even gotten the best of star cornerback Jalen Ramsey when the two have faced off.

“The speed that they have, the talent that they have,” cornerback Kendall Fuller said of Waddle and Hill.

“People can focus so much on the talent, but just the competition, you know what I mean? All of us are big little kids out there on the field. So just being able to go out there and play the game that you love and enjoy and just have fun working against one another and learning from one another. It’s been real fun to get out there with them.”
