Players To Watch During Clemson’s Pro Day 2024: Will Shipley and Tyler Davis Among Tigers With Most To Gain

Will Shipley and Jeremiah Trotter Jr. aim to improve their 2024 NFL Draft stock at the Clemson Pro Day, but who else should you watch for?

The Clemson Tigers have put some elite talent into the NFL over the entirety of its impressive program history. Currently, names like Trevor Lawrence, Travis Etienne, and DeAndre Hopkins are impact players at the professional level who have set a high standard for the institution in the league.

Who in this 2024 class of players could help improve their NFL draft stock drastically with a standout performance at the Clemson Pro Day?

Clemson Pro Day 2024

The Tigers have more than a handful of players who were invited to the 2024 NFL Combine, but the results for these participants were pretty mixed. Here is a closer look at these Clemson ball players who are expected to participate in the event in some capacity.

Will Shipley, RB

Will Shipley didn’t take the field in Indianapolis for the NFL Combine, but there is still a chance he will participate at the Clemson Pro Day. Shipley suffered a knee injury towards the end of the 2023 season, which could be a limiting factor heading into the event.

Shipley flashed ability as a three-down contributor heading into the NFL, and he had some great performances in college, but he hasn’t exactly put on tape an elite trait. His jack-of-all-trades/master-of-none versatility is the type of scenario where a great Pro Day performance could help generate some buzz around him as a prospect.

Nate Wiggins, CB

Speaking of buzz, Nate Wiggins turned some heads with a blistering 4.28 time in the 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine.

He may choose to stand on that time, which leaves him as a player who doesn’t stand to gain a ton from this Pro Day.

Jeremiah Trotter Jr., LB

Jeremiah Trotter Jr. is certainly in the conversation for the best off-ball linebacker prospect in the 2024 NFL Draft. His NFL bloodline is legit, with his dad playing the same position at a very high level for 11 years.

Trotter is a great processor and can shoot gaps when he sees an opportunity to get downhill to attack ball carriers.

The Tigers linebacker has an opportunity to run the 40 on a fast track at Clemson, which could help solidify his status as the LB1 in this class for many NFL evaluators.

Tyler Davis, DT

Tyler Davis is one of Clemson’s two impressive interior defensive line prospects entering the NFL in 2024. Regardless of who you thought had the better day in Indianapolis, Davis certainly proved he can pack a punch with 29 bench press reps at 6’2” and 301 pounds.

Davis will likely aim to improve his 40-time (5.02) and other testing drills during the Clemson Pro Day to help push his draft stock into Day 2 territory.

Ruke Orhorhoro, DT

Personally, I believe Ruke Orhorhoro had a pretty impressive day at the Combine. He also logged 29 bench press reps but posted a 4.89 time in the 40 at 6’4”, 294 pounds.

In addition, a broad jump of 9’8” was also impressive, which helped give Orhorhoro one of the best athletic profiles at the position entering the 2024 NFL Draft.

Xavier Thomas, EDGE

The EDGE position isn’t among the best groups in the 2024 NFL Draft class, so Xavier Thomas has plenty to gain with a strong outing at the Clemson Pro Day.

His Combine performance was highlighted by a 4.62 in the 40-yard dash, 10’0” broad jump, and 26 bench press reps at 6’2” 244 pounds.

One of the strengths of his game on tape was a quick first step, which could stand to improve with a better performance in the 40-yard dash and a faster 10-yard split.

Other players who could work out during the Clemson Pro Day include Paul Tyson, Davian Sullivan, Brannon Spector, Will Putnam, Walker Parks, Mitchell Mayes, Hamp Greene, and Hampton Earle.
