Jaire Alexander entered the Green Bay Packers‘ Wild Card game against the Dallas Cowboys with an ankle injury, and the veteran cornerback appeared to aggravate the issue on Sunday. What happened to Alexander, and what’s his current injury status?
Jaire Alexander Injury Update
Alexander was hampered by shoulder and ankle injuries coming into Sunday’s game. He managed a limited practice on Wednesday but failed to participate in Thursday or Friday sessions.
Alexander grabbed at his left ankle — the same one that’d already been bothering him — after making a tackle on Cowboys WR Brandin Cooks with roughly five minutes remaining in the third quarter.

He initially received medical attention on the field before departing for Green Bay’s sideline under his power. Alexander subsequently entered the blue medical tent for further evaluation.

The Packers announced Alexander is questionable to return because of his ankle injury. Corey Ballentine will replace Alexander in Green Bay’s cornerback grouping with Carrington Valentine and KeiSean Nixon.
Alexander had played 51 defensive snaps before departing, allowing three catches for 31 yards on four targets, per NFL Next Gen Stats.
The former first-round pick also dealt with a back injury this season and only appeared in seven regular-season games.
With the Packers well on their way toward a win over the Cowboys, they could rest Alexander for the rest of Sunday’s game, even if his injury isn’t severe. Green Bay will play the San Francisco 49ers in next weekend’s Divisional Round.
