The Top DSTs To Start Super Wild Card Weekend

Detroit Lions, DST (vs. LAR)

The narrative around the Detroit Lions’ defense is that they are a liability and that could well prove true, but what if it’s not? What if their league-leading 28.2% pressure rate masks their flaws and results in turnover-worthy throws?

I generally draft for safety in the early rounds at the skill positions, but at my DST spot, I’m willing not only to wait until the very end but also to throw caution to the wind.

Detroit’s high-pressure stylings have allowed them to post 10+ defensive fantasy points in four games this season, three of which have come indoors. They aren’t in the top half of the remaining teams when it comes to roster talent, but that’s not what we are betting on here.

We are betting on upside and volume. In my projected playoff bracket, only two teams play more games than the Lions, and if that proves accurate, it is likely because their defense is playing above expectations.

This pick comes with risk (both in terms of their production and their game count), but given how I see the postseason playing out, the upside is far greater than the downside!
