The Latest Miami Dolphins Injury News

Mostert was back at practice Thursday after missing Wednesday with an ankle injury, per the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, which traveled with the team to Germany this week.

Tight end Durham Smythe (ankle) was also back and seems likely to suit up Sunday.

But the news wasn’t as encouraging on the offensive line — even with Terron Armstead back practicing after missing the last four games with an ankle injury of his own. (It’s still unclear whether he’ll be activated off injured reserve ahead of the Week 9 showdown in Frankfurt.)

Robert Hunt (hamstring) was still in rehab mode Thursday, meaning the Dolphins could be without both guards against a Chiefs defense that, through Week 8, ranked second in sacks (28) and fourth in pressures (85).

Left guard Isaiah Wynn is out indefinitely, so if Hunt is unable to go, the Dolphins will have to start some combination of Robert Jones, Liam Eichenberg, and Lester Cotton against Kansas City.

That would be a bit of an equalizer against a Chiefs defense that gives up yards on the ground. They have the league’s seventh-worst yards-per-carry against average (4.4) and rank 31st in defensive rush EPA (.016).

On defense, just one Dolphins player remained out of practice: safety Brandon Jones, who is in concussion protocol and did not travel with the team to Germany. Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel on Wednesday didn’t rule out Jones joining the team later in the week if his condition improves.
