What Time Does Sunday Night Football Start?

Since 2006, Sunday Night Football has been a fixture on NBC’s programming, and this week is no different. The Steelers and Raiders will kick off at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock for those without standard cable options. The Steelers got into the win column in Week 2 after an ugly showing to start the season, but it wasn’t easy.

Will the Steelers’ offense perform any better this week against a Raiders team that Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen diced up?

The Steelers need an injection of offensive energy as soon as possible. Despite scoring 26 points against the Cleveland Browns in the Week 2 victory, the defense and special teams accounted for over half the points, returning an interception and fumble for a touchdown. There are very few aspects of the Steelers’ offense that can be looked at as a positive right now.

Pittsburgh’s offense has scored a touchdown every 13 drives through two weeks this season, the worst drives per TD rate in the NFL. Second-year QB Kenny Pickett continues to struggle this season, with two touchdowns, three interceptions, and add to that getting sacked seven times in just two weeks.

He’s not getting much help from his first-round RB, Najee Harris. While Harris has broken the most tackles among NFL RBs since 2021 with 75, he’s averaging just 4.0 yards from scrimmage per touch since 2022 — the second-worst among qualified 35 NFL RBs.

However, all hope is not lost. The Raiders allowed Allen to throw for 274 yards and three touchdowns while completing 83.8% of his passes. If Pickett picks apart the underneath stuff the Raiders defense seems intent on allowing this season, the Steelers should be able to walk down the field for some easy scoring opportunities.

Offensive coordinator Matt Canada must find some success on Sunday Night Football against the Raiders, or his tenure in Pittsburgh could be coming to an end.
