Bills vs. Bears Prediction
The Bills were able to hold off the Miami Dolphins last week in their home stadium 32-29 to advance to 11-3 on the season and win their fifth game in a row. They still hold the No. 1 overall seed in the AFC due to their tiebreaker over the Kansas City Chiefs and control their own destiny heading toward the playoffs.
While the Chiefs will have their hands full with the Seattle Seahawks, Buffalo should easily be able to advance to 12-3 on the season after this week and a battle with the Chicago Bears. Yes, the Bears have an exciting offense due to the play of Justin Fields, but this is a roster that lacks talent at every level.
With Chicago dealing with injuries too, it won’t take much for Buffalo to get out to an early lead this week and hold onto it. The run game should be able to succeed in a matchup against a Bears defense that’s surrendering the sixth-most rushing yards per game with 143.9 per game. With the possibility of brutal weather, the run game will need to be prevalent for the Bills.
As for Chicago in this game, they continue to see spectacular play out of their QB despite the lack of star talent around him. Fields has now crossed over 1,000 rushing yards on the season and is only the third QB in NFL history to achieve that impressive feat.
Even with numerous offensive playmakers injured this past week against Philadelphia, Fields was 14-of-21 passing for 152 yards and two touchdowns. He added 95 rushing yards on 15 carries and continued to show that Chicago has their building block of the future at a position they’ve so desperately needed an answer for a long time.
MORE: Early NFL Week 16 Predictions and Picks Against the Spread
Looking ahead to Week 16, Chicago lacks the talent on their roster to go toe-to-toe with arguably one of the best teams in football this year, but they could get some assistance to help level the playing field.
Early forecasts for this game in Chicago call for “feels like” temperatures of -11° and wind gusts, which will dramatically limit the passing games for both offenses. This game will come down to which team can run the football effectively and win at the line of scrimmage.
We should expect to see both QBs heavily involved as extensions of the run game, which will be fun to watch. Chicago might have the edge when it comes to moving the ball on the ground with David Montgomery, Fields, and potentially Khalil Herbert back as well.
In neutral weather, Buffalo wins this game nine times out of 10. Those percentages get thrown out the window, though, when we have the projected weather that we do for this matchup.
