Who Plays on Monday Night Football Tonight?

Teams
Pittsburgh Steelers (3-7) at Indianapolis Colts (4-6-1)

Location
Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis

Monday Night Football tonight showcases the Indianapolis Colts as they play host to the Pittsburgh Steelers. It looks like we will be getting Kenny Pickett and Matt Ryan in this one, but all eyes will be on Colts head coach Jeff Saturday as he comes off the first loss of his young coaching career.

The drama surrounding Saturday’s hire has all but subsided now that he has strung together two impressive performances in a row, getting a victory in his first game and bringing the best team in the league right down to the wire last week. However, we can expect to hear quite a few callbacks to the bizarre nature of the situation as he visits the studio he was working for just three weeks ago.

Under Saturday, the Colts have looked like a completely different team. His first order of business was to reintroduce Ryan into the lineup, and that has paid dividends so far. Although he hasn’t been peak Atlanta Falcons Matt Ryan, he’s done just enough to keep the ball moving and give his offense chances to score points.

The second change Saturday made was to ensure running back Jonathan Taylor was once again the centerpiece of this team’s offense. In the two games since the new interim coach took over, Taylor has had over 44 carries and has transformed his opportunities into two touchdowns and 229 yards.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the ball, the rookie Pickett continues to show growing pains but has also shown flashes as to why he deserved to be the first QB selected in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Last week, in a losing effort against division rival Cincinnati, Pickett displayed poise in the pocket and racked up 265 yards and a touchdown. Yes, the team might be 3-7 and far from competing in the AFC North, but at least they know they have their franchise player under center for years to come.

The current betting odds have this one with the home team laying just less than a field goal at -2.5. What that tells us is that bookmakers believe these two teams are fairly equal on a neutral site.

However, PFN’s Betting Director BJ Rudell feels otherwise. In his Week 12 picks and predictions, he strongly favored the home team to take care of the Steelers.

“Earlier this week, I wrote that I was “shocked this line isn’t five points or more.” The Colts have kept four of the last five opponents below their season points average. Meanwhile, the ascending Parris Campbell has helped elevate Matt Ryan’s formerly suspect passing attack. This is a team on the rise. They should be able to clamp down on the overmatched Steelers.”
