Jaguars vs. Lions Prediction
Jacksonville’s going to be coming into this game riding high off of their upset victory over the Baltimore Ravens in Week 12. Doug Pederson showcased his aggressive nature on the final play of the game by calling for a two-point conversion to win the game, and Trevor Lawrence and the offense executed. This victory kept Jacksonville’s playoff hopes alive — it still remains a long shot — as they now sit with a 4-7 record.
The Jaguars have hung close in nearly every single game so far this season. They’re currently the only team in the NFL with a losing record that has a positive point differential.
Jacksonville is a competitive team that’s heading in the right direction, and it’s — in large part — due to the play of their second-year QB. Lawrence has improved dramatically this year and is becoming more and more comfortable in Pederson’s system, and it’s leading to good things on the offensive side of the ball.
The key for Jacksonville walking away with the victory this week rests on Lawrence’s shoulders. The Lions have tightened things up here recently against opposing running backs, so Lawrence is going to have to get the job done as a passer. Coming off of an incredibly strong performance against Baltimore, Jacksonville should like their chances in this one.

As for the Lions, they’ve strung together some solid performances in recent weeks. They’ve won three out of their last four and were able to take the Bills — a popular Super Bowl bet — to the final seconds of the game on Thanksgiving. Detroit ranks in the top five over the last three games in terms of average points scored, with the offense seemingly finding a groove.
Detroit’s defense has done their part recently in keeping this team competitive and keeping them in games. They’ll need to show up again this week to try to slow down this Jaguars’ passing attack that’s coming off of a big victory and try to create some pressure up front to make life more difficult on Lawrence. Can they get home against an offensive line that’s allowing three sacks per game over the last three weeks?
The key to winning this matchup for Detroit rests on their ground game continuing to be a difference-maker. Over that stretch, where the Lions have won three of their last four games, Jamaal Williams has five total rushing touchdowns.
Detroit’s converted when they’ve gotten into the red zone. They should have no issue getting to that area of the field against a Jaguars defense that’s allowed 130.5 rushing yards on average over the last three games.
