Hopefully, your NFL fantasy football season is going as smoothly as you had imagined after drafting your roster. Whether you need to overhaul your team or are looking for ways to bolster a winner, we have your back with wall-to-wall coverage. That includes the Week 9 fantasy football trade analyzer, where we break down key players to trade for and away.
Fantasy Football Trade Analyzer Week 9 | Players To Trade For
The arrival of Week 9 means it’s time to get down to business. There are players with a value that is too low for their opportunity — it would help if you tried to swoop in and add these two players at a reasonable cost.
Jakobi Meyers, WR, New England Patriots
One of our big prop play hits of Week 8 was Jakobi Meyers hitting the over on his 50.5 receiving yards line. Meyers caught nine-of-12 targets for 60 yards and a touchdown, cashing in his fourth solid fantasy week of the last five games. We’re rapidly reaching the point where Meyers is a stellar WR2 fantasy option, let alone a matchup-based flex play.

Still not on a roster in 20 percent of leagues, and started in about 26 percent of leagues, fantasy managers are missing on Meyers due to reasonable skepticism about New England’s quarterback situation. But Meyers has remained productive regardless of whether it’s been Bailey Zappe or Mac Jones throwing to him. He has truly emerged as this team’s WR1.
Upcoming games against the Indianapolis Colts, New York Jets, and Minnesota Vikings (the last of which comes after New England’s Week 10 bye), are more favorable matchups for Meyers. The only game in which I’d consider him a sit is against the Buffalo Bills in Week 13. This gives Meyers unusual value since the public is so much lower on him despite his production.
Antonio Gibson, RB, Washington Commanders
After being demoted to the No. 2 back for all of two weeks, Antonio Gibson reclaimed his job in Week 8 against the Colts. The Commanders oddly handed rookie Brian Robinson the reigns just one week after he returned from an absence due to suffering gunshot wounds during a robbery, then gave him 37 carries over two games only to play him on just 25 percent of the snaps in Week 8. The Commanders don’t make a ton of sense with their direction.
Regardless, Gibson has flourished with more red zone touches and more of a receiving role. He had 15.2 points in Week 7 and 17.2 points in Week 8. His two receiving touchdowns bolstered otherwise decent but not special numbers.
It’s important to not overpay for Gibson because he has been touchdown-dependent. With Taylor Heinicke in for Carson Wentz, the Washington offense has flowed better and has given running backs more touches. We’re hoping his current managers see his touchdown production and scoff at it instead of realizing that his upcoming matchups are excellent.

I like Gibson as a Flex option for the remainder of the season. He’s not super efficient or going to be a bell cow, but you can do worse than a player overtaking the receiving and red zone role on this offense.
Fantasy Football Trade Analyzer Week 9 | Players To Trade Away
It’s also time to cash in on some players who exploded in the first eight weeks but are unlikely to continue at that rate. That doesn’t mean these two players are bad or not worth having on your roster, but it’s worth exploring their trade value to see if you can land someone in a better situation to succeed through the rest of 2022.
DeVonta Smith, WR, Philadelphia Eagles
DeVonta Smith has been heavily involved in the Eagles’ passing offense throughout most of the season, but the problem is that the offense isn’t pass-heavy. Outside of an explosive 26.9-point performance in Week 3 against Washington, Smith has only one game above 80 yards and one other game with a touchdown. He’s as likely to bust as he is to boom.
This makes him a fine Flex or low-end WR2 option for some rosters. Upcoming matchups against Houston, Washington, and Indianapolis could be worse. But I don’t have faith in the quality of targets Jalen Hurts is feeding Smith. Hurts clearly favors A.J. Brown.
Smith’s 13 targets over his last two games are encouraging despite the drop in yards. I think we can do better for a variance receiver, though. Moving Smith for someone like Gabe Davis can also net you another rotational asset without seeing a significant drop-off between the two receivers.
Courtland Sutton, WR, Denver Broncos
I hate selling low on playmakers but this is where we’re at with the Denver Broncos offense. Despite Sutton being tremendously talented and supposedly building a rapport with quarterback Russel Wilson during the offseason, the veteran wideout has been silent over the last three weeks. His Week 8 featured only four targets for one reception and 13 yards.
MORE: Buy Low, Sell High Week 9
With a Week 9 bye coming, Sutton’s value will be low. But he’s a starter in about 60 percent of ESPN leagues despite his drought of four weeks under 10 fantasy points. His fantasy value continues to live off his opening month.
Look for fantasy managers willing to take a gamble on Sutton over the second half of the season in a trade. Upcoming matchups against Tennessee, Baltimore, the Los Angeles Rams, and even Carolina aren’t favorable for Sutton to produce. He may only have a couple of 10-point performances left in the remaining fantasy weeks.
Shop Sutton to see if you can get a solid Flex option in return and cash in on his name.
