Zack Moss cleared the concussion protocol on Saturday

Moss was listed as a non-participant for Wednesday’s practice due to being in the NFL’s concussion protocol. He was able to get onto the field Thursday, but he didn’t participate in any contact. The positive news was that Moss must have advanced out of the first stage of the concussion protocol to even be able to get on the field.

On Friday, Bills head coach Sean McDermott revealed that Moss would remain in the protocol on Friday. The fact that Moss was on the practice field at all this week was a good sign that he might be cleared ahead of the game Sunday. On Saturday, it was reported that Moss had cleared the concussion protocol. While not 100% confirmed, it is likely he will now be active on Sunday.

Moss has continued to share the backfield with Devin Singletary

After being a surprise inactive in Week 1, Moss returned for the Bills in Week 2. Since then, he and Devin Singletary have continued to share the duties in the backfield. Since Week 2, Moss has 65 rushing attempts to Singletary’s 62. Moss has 25 targets, while Singletary has 22. They have been almost inseparable in terms of opportunities (carries plus targets), averaging 12.9 and 12 opportunities per game respectively.

Part of the reason both have been relatively lightly used is that Josh Allen has 57 rushing attempts this season. Aside from Mitchell Trubisky (10 carries), no other Bills player has more than 5 rush attempts this season. With Moss now out of the concussion protocol, he should continue to split touches with Singletary. Both are frustrating fantasy options with little week-to-week consistency.
