After battling fitness issues, struggling with a loss of form, and taking a two-month hiatus earlier this season, Navarro has continued her promising resurgence at the US Open.
Having triumphed over Loïs Boisson, Caty McNally, and Karolína Muchová, the American delivered another stellar performance to claim a 6-4, 6-2 win over Anna Kalinskaya in the fourth round of the New York Major.
During her on-court interview, Navarro credited her mother, Kelly, for helping shape her calm personality during matches. She also poked fun at her father Ben’s anxious reactions during her matches, making him crack up in the stands.
Nevertheless, the world No. 27 acknowledged that she experienced the same nerves when supporting her younger sister Meggie, who plays college tennis at the University of Virginia.
“I definitely have my calmness from my mom. We make fun of my dad because he’s up there flinching, moving all around. I think I can hear his feet on some points when I’m hitting the ball. He has always been that way. I know how he feels. I do the same thing watching my sister play. It’s understandable, but I definitely get my on-court personality from my mom,” she said.

The 25-year-old has often expressed gratitude for her parents’ unwavering support in her professional tennis journey. Her father, Ben Navarro, who has an estimated net worth of $3.2 billion according to Forbes, has even invested in both the Charleston Open and Cincinnati Open through his investment firm, Beemok Capital.
Following their battle in this year’s Cincinnati Open final, Jessica Pegula and Coco Gauff both credited Ben and Kelly Navarro for the $260 million renovation of the tournament grounds completed in 2025.
Emma Navarro will now turn her attention to her highly anticipated all-American clash against Pegula in the quarterfinals of the US Open.
