Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua has had a messy offseason. He is recovering from a groin injury. Then, he faced a civil lawsuit accusing him of biting a woman and making antisemitic remarks at a New Year’s Eve gathering.
Earlier this year, he entered a rehabilitation facility to focus on his personal well-being and completed the program in time for OTAs. He later missed much of training camp after suffering a psoas injury in an August joint practice with the Cowboys, raising fresh concerns about his Week 1 availability.
However, as per NFL insider Adam Schefter, Nacua is now expected to suit up against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 1. While that news gives the Rams a major boost, it also sparks plenty of suspicion among fans.
Fans Question the NFL’s Unresolved Discipline Process on Puka Nacua
Schefter shared the latest update from Rams head coach Sean McVay on his official X account.
“Rams WR Puka Nacua, who has been dealing with psoas soreness and also could be facing potential discipline under the NFL’s personal conduct policy for previous off-the-field behavior, is expected to play in Week 1 vs. the 49ers, per HC Sean McVay.”
The update immediately shifted attention from Nacua’s health to the league’s unresolved disciplinary process. And fans started questioning why the NFL has still not completed that process.

Fans are referring to a Dec. 31 incident where a woman filed a lawsuit alleging that Nacua bit her shoulder and also bit her friend’s thumb and made antisemitic remarks. So far, the NFL has not placed Nacua on the Commissioner’s Exempt List or handed down a suspension.
That silence has only fueled fan theories that the league’s decision could have something to do with protecting viewership.

The upcoming Rams vs. 49ers matchup carries plenty of history, as it will become the NFL’s first regular-season contest in Australia. And Nacua’s value around the league is difficult to overlook.
His fellow players voted him No. 7 on the NFL Top 100 Players of 2026 list, placing him among the league’s biggest stars. That recognition followed a remarkable 2025 campaign in which Nacua earned unanimous AP First-Team All-Pro honors.
Last season, Nacua hauled in 129 receptions for 1,715 yards and 10 touchdowns across 16 games. As per PFN’s WR Impact Metric, he posted an impact score of 96.3, ranking first among all wide receivers.
So, despite the criticism surrounding his offseason, Rams fans will hope Nacua stays healthy and receives a favorable ruling from the league.
