Jordan Addison put together two promising seasons to open his career before everything collapsed around him in 2025. The quarterback play was so poor that even Justin Jefferson could not overcome it.
The situation improves this year, although perhaps not as much as the raw upgrade suggests. Fantasy managers should think carefully about what Addison actually needs to break through.
Should You Draft Jordan Addison in Fantasy Football?
We’ve seen Addison score in bulk in each of his first two seasons with the Minnesota Vikings. We’ll see where that goes. Scoring variance is wonky, not the stickiest of stats year over year. But no, I’m passing.
If you’re relying on touchdowns, that’s dangerous in the first place. Never mind that we’re dealing with a quarterback in Kyler Murray who could get laser-locked on a single guy. We saw it at times with DeAndre Hopkins and at times with Hollywood Brown. There’s a situation where Murray might make Justin Jefferson the best receiver in football. I don’t think it carries over to Jordan.
I’m not even 100% sure that Addison’s the WR2 in this offense, with Jauan Jennings coming over from San Francisco. I’m not sure T.J. Hockenson’s completely dead either. You’re eating up a lot of volume that way. I’m out on Aaron Jones for fantasy purposes for the season, but he should see enough volume to matter out of the backfield. That’s a lot of moving pieces here.
I think Addison is a talented player. I think he can make big plays. That’s fine if you want to go that way in DFS, should the stars align. Be my guest. But I’m not going this direction season long, because I just don’t think you’re ever going to feel great about playing him in any one week. God forbid this offense go to JJ McCarthy because they’re struggling, and now you’re in a spot where he’s got to support multiple receivers. He can’t support one.
I think he’s worth drafting or worth having rostered. I’m not drafting him, because he’s going around guys like Quentin Johnston, who I think could legit be a league winner late in the season because of how the schedule lines up. Josh Downs is finally given the opportunity in Indy, and people are running scared because Keenan Allen’s in town now. I’m not buying it. Josh Downs over Addison. For me, that’s pretty easy. Jakobi Meyers is in the same range, if not a little later. All he does is return positively on investment. I think he does more of the same. I’m not too worried about the early-season injury. I think he’s just fine in Jacksonville.
If you’re not sold on any of those guys, then go with a onesie position. Bo Nix could be a top-10 quarterback this season. He’s going in that range. Tucker Kraft might be baby George Kittle. He’s in that neighborhood. There’s a lot of ways to spend this type of draft capital instead of throwing a dart on Jordan. I’m out for 2026. Give me Justin Jefferson or Jordan Mason in Minnesota. But that’s it.

Jordan Addison’s Week 1 Fantasy Outlook
You could do a study like this for a lot of receivers, but I’m going to use it here to prove a point.
Career PPG, games with a TD reception: 19.7
Career PPG, games without a TD reception: 7.7
Of course that makes sense because of how valuable a touchdown is, especially when we are talking about a player who tends to score from distance (22.6 yards per touchdown catch for his career).
I use it here not to just highlight the variance that is in play, but the variance that is in play in an offense that is welcoming in a new quarterback and additional target competition. Personally, I believe that Addison has a skill set that is valuable in the NFL. He changes how defenses scheme and can punish even the smallest of mistakes.
That said, with a new environment and an inconsistent profile, I need to see him be heavily involved in this offense before I assume it. He remains rosterable for all of the same reasons (for all we know, he and Murray are breakfast buddies with superior rapport), but I’m taking the pessimistic view to start.
Also … Addison turned 59 routes into 8 yards against the Pack a season ago.
