Stefon Diggs spent most of the summer unemployed and largely forgotten by fantasy managers. His signing in Washington changed that in a hurry, though his ADP has not entirely caught up. He steps into a role that has been vacant on this offense for some time. Fantasy managers should take a serious look before the price corrects.
Should You Draft Stefon Diggs in Fantasy Football?
We’re going to start with Diggs’ ADP, which sits at 120.8 in PFN’s Free Fantasy Mock Draft Simulator. We have him at WR34 in the consensus ranks between me and my colleague Kyle Soppe, and we have him projected at 11.68 fantasy points per game. Last season, Diggs posted 12.4 fantasy points per game. That was his lowest since his rookie year.
Diggs had a long stretch of being a mid to high WR2, and at times even an elite WR1, particularly in Buffalo. We know that version of Diggs is never coming back. He’s 32 years old. He’ll be 33 before the year is up. This is a player very much in decline.
However, Diggs always had a skill set that did not rely on raw athleticism or being elite at being dynamic after the catch. It was a skill set that was going to age well, and we’re seeing that manifest in real time as he moves into his mid-30s.
Even though he wasn’t overly productive last season in fantasy points per game, we still saw a very good wide receiver. Diggs posted 2.55 yards per route run, which was seventh in the league, and 0.131 first downs per route run, third in the league. He averaged an impressive 2.02 yards per team pass attempt. This was still a very effective wide receiver and a very good chain mover.
That is the role I think Diggs is going to play in Washington. He’s not the WR1. That’s going to be Terry McLaurin. I don’t think he’s going to eat into McLaurin’s target share at all. But there are a lot of players here that got targets, particularly in 2024, the last time we had a fully healthy Commanders team and all these guys. They don’t need these targets. They can all be consolidated around Diggs.
Guys like Zach Ertz, Olamide Zaccheaus, Noah Brown, Dyami Brown, Luke McCaffrey, and Jamison Crowder combined for 288 targets in 2024. We don’t need to give even half of those to Diggs. Give 40% of them to Diggs, maybe, and that is enough to push him over 100 targets in the season, which I think he can get to. This is a player who we saw last year average 2.06 fantasy points per target. That is really efficient.
I think Diggs can be a very, very strong WR3 this season. If the Commanders offense resembles more what it was in 2024 compared to 2025, there’s even more upside, despite the fact that Diggs is at an advanced age. He’s one of my favorite WR3 targets in the middle portion of 2026 fantasy football drafts.

Stefon Diggs’ Week 1 Fantasy Outlook
Analysis provided by PFN Analyst Kyle Soppe.
I like what we saw from Diggs last season, and part of that is what scares me.
The Patriots were able to get the most out of the veteran by taking a page out of the NBA’s book with load management, and if that’s going to be the case again, it’s simply hard to make the numbers work.
I do think he has a big impact on the scoring equity of this offense, however, and that could encourage them to push his snap count closer to 75% than 50%. Diggs has posted a sub-9-yard aDOT in back-to-back seasons, a skill set that should help a QB in Jayden Daniels, who ranks 26th of 33 qualifiers in passer rating when throwing short of the sticks.
For now, I’m treading lightly. He’s hovering around WR40 for me this week, and I’m looking for reasons not to play him until we get a feel for just how often he’s going to be on the field.
