Xavier Worthy entered the league with the fastest 40-time ever recorded and a starting job in the best offense in football. Two seasons later, the fantasy community has largely moved on from him. His price now sits in the range where managers are simply throwing darts. Should fantasy managers take a shot on Worthy in 2026?
Should You Draft Xavier Worthy in Fantasy Football?
I get the pedigree, and at this point, I get the discount. Worthy is going outside the top 10 rounds in ADP, and that’s warranted. The dude hasn’t been good.
We know the speed is there. That was his calling card out of college, coming into the pros. We thought he’d be able to run past everybody. What could he do in this Patrick Mahomes-led offense? The idea made sense. Then this cover-two era took over, and he’s got nowhere to go. He doesn’t have a 55-yard catch in his career. That’s certainly something I didn’t think we’d be saying at this point in the proceedings.
He’s not going to cost you much. If you wanted to make the value argument that you’re not risking much, I get it. But Tyquan Thornton is doing the same thing in Kansas City, just a little bit better, a little bit more efficiently.
Could Worthy work underneath and get some work and maybe develop a route tree that makes sense in a Patrick Mahomes offense that we don’t think is going to see the quarterback run at nearly the rate he did a season ago? I guess you could make sense out of all that if you squint and look at it, and I’m not going to stop you. There’s no real bad pick in round 11. But I’m not going this way.
You don’t bring in Kenneth Walker if you want to lean more into the pass game. In this offense, Andy Reid wants balance. He wants explosives, but he wants them out of the running game because these defenses are pushing everything back. It’s cloud coverage. They’re trying not to get beat over the top. They are tempting him to beat them with paper cuts, and they’ve got a paper cutter in Kenneth Walker. I think he’s going to have a big season.
But Worthy is going to be hit-and-miss on a week-to-week basis. He’s being drafted in the same range as a Matthew Golden type, and I’ll go with Matthew Golden. They thinned out that receiver corps in Green Bay for a reason. Golden has first-round equity just like Worthy. I would go, Golden, if you’re throwing darts in this range over Worthy.
I’m out. I don’t have many exposures of Worthy this season, and realistically, I’m not that interested until I see him do something on a consistent basis, which we’ve yet to see.

Xavier Worthy’s Week 1 Fantasy Outlook
This is an interesting profile as I think he went from being so overrated he might actually be underrated?
To be clear, there’s not a situation in which I’m playing him this week, but as long as his routes are varied this week, I could see myself trying to buy low after a projected dud.
The Broncos are elite, and Patrick Mahomes is just returning to live action. This isn’t a good spot for a young receiver who has struggled with consistency as it is, but I was shocked to find that 81 of Worthy’s 101 career catches have come on balls thrown less than 10 yards downfield.
The exceptional speed remains, but those short targets need to remain a part of his profile. I don’t expect Mahomes to scramble as much as he did a season ago as he comes off of the ACL, and if that proves accurate, we are looking at even more quick-hitting action than normal.
Worthy’s ceiling may hinge on landing a haymaker, though I do think there’s a world where he offers a reasonable weekly floor for the first time in his career.
There’s no reason to look in this direction for your first matchup of the season.
