Travis Hunter is one of the biggest names in the NFL entering 2026, not on account of his production.
As of early September, Hunter has an ADP of 161.3 and a PFN rank of 133. PFN’s analysts are much higher on the upside he still has, even in his two-way role. He’s projected for 8.36 points per game, and he ranks as the WR58 on PFN’s board.
Should You Draft Travis Hunter in Fantasy Football?
Hunter’s two-way ability between wide receiver and cornerback was one reason he was viewed as an elite prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft cycle. But that same two-way projection has complicated his appeal as a fantasy asset, and I would argue that it even understates it. He averaged less than 10 fantasy points per game in 7 games played in 2025, and he had an offensive snap share of just 67%.
The Jaguars have 307 targets from last year returning to the starting lineup. You factor in Brian Thomas Jr., who’s hoping to get a bounceback season, Parker Washington, who emerged as a true stud in that lineup, Brenton Strange, who’s an up-and-coming tight end who just got paid, and Jakobi Meyers, who only played half of the season with the team and already has chemistry with Trevor Lawrence.
There’s a lot of target competition in Jacksonville and not a lot of assurances about what Hunter’s role will be in the offense. While Hunter has done some two-way work this offseason, he’s been utilized at a higher clip at cornerback in camp and in practices.
We can respect that Hunter’s talent and upside as a playmaker are bona fide. They’re elite and almost unmatched. But we can also acknowledge that in a fantasy football game where touch volume is ultimately key, Hunter will not get enough to command a premium beyond his current ADP. He is not a dependable option week in and week out to begin with.
In my opinion, Hunter is a complete fade in fantasy football. If you have an open spot, you don’t have any other targets, and you want to buy low on him in the later rounds or as a waiver-wire pickup, he probably won’t last through the draft. Someone’s going to take him. It comes down to whether you want to bank on that.
Personally, I do not see enough volume upside. I think he’s going to get more run at corner than receiver, and any snaps he does see on the offensive side will be situational. If you want to take that shot, go for it. I’m fading. I’m looking elsewhere.

Travis Hunter’s Week 1 Fantasy Outlook

The idea of Hunter is a lot better than the actual execution.
Twice in his 7 games last season did he reach 45 receiving yards, and that came before the team traded for Jakobi Meyers. With Parker Washington looking to level up and Brian Thomas, at a minimum, a downfield threat, it’s hard to envision a Jaguars team that needs depth more on the other side of the ball pushing their versatile second-year player into a fantasy-friendly role.
The raw skills are there, but not in such a way that they supersede opportunity. You can roster Hunter in leagues with deep benches, but at this moment in time, he reads very much like a handcuff running back that only becomes of interest should an injury happen ahead of him on the depth chart.
Even with this roster at full strength, I don’t doubt that he has splash moments. There are tools here, but if he’s ranking 4th (or 5th) on this team in routes per week, it would take him being one of the 10 most efficient receivers on the planet to convince me that he is flex-worthy.
