‘Now It’s a Superteam,’ ‘Wemby To Blame’ – NBA World, Former Champion React As 7-Foot-6 Center Joins LeBron James’ 76ers

The Philadelphia 76ers have added to their already-stacked roster by signing former Boston Celtics man Tacko Fall.

The Philadelphia 76ers have had perhaps the busiest offseason in 2026. Not only did they trade for Jaylen Brown while offloading Paul George’s contract, but they also snagged LeBron James on a two-year veteran minimum deal.

Now, they’ve signed former Boston Celtics’ 7-foot-6 Tacko Fall to the roster. He’s on a one-year, veteran minimum Exhibit 10 deal. While Fall isn’t a superstar in the NBA, fans online were shocked that Philly swooped in to secure another potentially serviceable player.

NBA World Reacts to the 76ers Signing Tacko Fall

Fall last played in the NBA in the 2021-22 season for the Cleveland Cavaliers. He played 11 games and averaged 1.1 points and 2.1 rebounds in just over five minutes of play.

After nearly half a decade away from NBA hardwood, Fall has the opportunity to work his way back into the league through the 76ers, and fans are fairly taken aback.

“Now it’s a superteam,” said one fan who may or may not have been treading the line between earnestness and sarcasm.

A LeBron fan took to X to confidently say, “Just got the Wemby stopper, you can go ahead and hand us that Larry now.”

Another said, “Bron lobs to Tacko about to hit different.”

Kendrick Perkins joined the fray as well, saying, “Wemby is to Blame for this move!!! 76ers definitely going all in!!!”

One fan shared a similar sentiment to Perkins, saying, “Oh they getting ready for Wemby if they meet in the finals.”

“I am more excited about Tacko Fall than I am LeBron,” said another X user who brought in more sarcasm into the mix.

Fall’s contract is non-guaranteed. If Philly decides to waive him before the regular season starts after training camp, he will not be eligible to the extent of the multi-million vet-minimum. He’ll receive up to $91,000.

He could also be relegated to the G-League affiliate and earn the $91,000 along with the G-League salary. If Philly does, in fact, decide to begin to bring him onto the NBA roster come regular season time, he will then be entitled to the full amount of his veteran minimum.

As for why the 76ers made this move (they also signed Jameer Nelson Jr. and Saint Thomas), they seem to be taking a flier on him.

As Perkins and other fans said, he could be someone who can eat up a few minutes on the defensive end of the floor against 7-foot-plus offensive juggernauts such as Victor Wembanyama and Chet Holmgren.

Jaylen Brown, Fall’s former teammate on the Celtics, seems to have liked the move as he reacted to the news on X with a ‘GOAT’ emoji.

It’s unclear whether Fall has evolved his game enough to avoid being one-dimensional on offense. If his mobility and ability to run the floor on a fast break have improved, it isn’t out of the realm of possibility for Philly to sign him for their regular-season roster.
