‘Insane,’ ‘Just Incredible’ – WNBA World Reacts As Angel Reese Leads the League In Rebounds Without the ‘Mebounds’

Angel Reese’s latest rebounding numbers spark strong reactions across the WNBA, with the community debating her remarkable dominance on the glass.

Angel Reese has seemingly found another way to silence her critics by making the rebounding numbers impossible to ignore. Just one night after setting two WNBA rebounding records, the Atlanta Dream star is once again at the center of the conversation.

Unique Stats Involving Angel Reese Have Been Revealed

On Monday, Reese grabbed a WNBA-record 26 rebounds during Atlanta’s 78-71 win over the Los Angeles Sparks.

The performance pushed her season total to 458, allowing her to surpass A’ja Wilson’s previous single-season record of 451. Reese also passed Chamique Holdsclaw’s previous single-game record of 24 rebounds, set in 2003.

Now, a recent post from “The Real App’s” official X account has added another layer to the discussion. The graphic lists Reese first among the league’s rebound leaders with 458 total rebounds.

Interestingly, she also appears in second place when her so-called “Mebounds” are excluded, with 404 rebounds. Jessica Shepard follows in third with 401 rebounds.

As the post started making the rounds on social media, reactions quickly poured in.

The term “Mebounds” has become a nickname used by some critics to describe rebounds Reese collects after missing her own shots. This suggests that she is padding her rebounding statistics.

An influencer appeared surprised by just how large the difference was between Reese’s overall total and the 404 rebounds credited without the “Mebounds.”

“50+ mebounds is insane… I ain’t know it was that much,” the influencer wrote on X.

Another influencer pointed out how Reese essentially camps near the basket. According to them, the Dream player waits to clean up the glass while other players around the league are busy missing their own layups and jumpers. The comparison painted her positioning less as a gimmick and more as calculated.

“That’s incredible. Athletes missing layups and shots and she’s positioned near the hoop and doesn’t ever get her heels off the ground for said stat. Just incredible,” the influencer said, whereas another one wrote, “She’s still a net negative for her team. Make A Wish Syd doesn’t belong in the league.”

One user even compared Reese to NBA’s Rudy Gobert. This comparison makes sense, as Gobert is widely known for his same rebounding motive.

“This is exactly why she’s the Rudy Gobert of the WNBA,” the influencer said.

Whether fans call them “Mebounds” or simply rebounds, Reese continues to collect them at a historic rate. Also judging by the reaction to The Real App’s post, the debate surrounding her rebounding dominance is far from over.
