NFL Fans Slam Governor Shapiro’s Eagles Stadium Plans

Shapiro revealed that the authorities would work with the Eagles in their search for either a new stadium or the renovation of their current home.

“Here’s what I can tell you for sure: It’s going to be in the city of Philadelphia,” Shapiro said. “And we’ll work with the Eagles once they determine what it is that they’re interested in doing. But I appreciate the thoughtful and deliberative approach that they’ve taken to this process.”

One fan predicted that the new stadium’s design would be a letdown.

“They’re going to build a dome and it’s going to suck,” one fan wrote.

Another fan blasted Governor Shapiro for wasting taxpayer dollars on a new stadium and wrote, “Shapiro, keep overspending our tax dollars. Make sure you keep doing everything that benefits you.”

Yet another fan suggested that instead of moving to a new stadium, the team should renovate Lincoln Financial Field: “Renovation is the best path for all.”

One fan even accused Governor Shapiro of using the stadium move as a political gambit to lay the foundation for a presidential run.

“You can tell he wants to run for president. He is sucking up to the Eagle fans,” the fan wrote on X.

Scott Paterno suggested that the Pittsburgh Steelers would also insist on getting a new stadium.

“This is insane,” Paterno said. “We are really gonna build two – because, you know, to get funding for one, they will have to promise it to the other – new stadiums to replace ones that are what? 25 years old? What a racket.”

One fan was adamant that the franchise did not need a new stadium, as he wrote, “The Eagles do not need a new stadium.”

Several NFL teams are exploring the option of building new stadiums, including the Kansas City Chiefs, who are in the process of relocating from Kansas City, Missouri, to Kansas City, Kansas. The Cleveland Browns are also leaving Cleveland for Brook Park, Ohio, while the Chicago Bears will leave for either Illinois or Indiana.
