For the majority of the WNBA summer, the debate regarding transgender athletes competing in the league has stayed at the top of the dialogue. From Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham’s remarks in an ESPN article and her subsequent doubling down to anti-trans apparel companies using the issue as a political point, the discussion rages on. Yet, one figure remains omnipresent in the conversation.
Former NBA player Enes Kanter decided to interject himself into the situation. Whether it’s a legitimate concern, attention-seeking, or trolling, the former Celtics star has continued to draw attention in recent days. Now, a former NBA veteran has checked in with a pointed response aimed at Kanter.
Former NBA Guard Jason Williams Roasts Enes Kanter Over Recent Antics
For 12 seasons, Williams was known for an exciting style of basketball which featured a catalogue of flashy passes. As a result, he fully comprehends entertainment value. However, he sees none of that when he watches Kanter, who had a verbal altercation with Chicago Sky player Natasha Cloud during their recent game against the Indiana Fever
On his “Hoopin’ N Hollerin’” podcast, Williams chided Kanter for declaring for the 2027 WNBA draft.
“Enes Kanter stupid. Fu*k he doing, dog? Seriously. Why does he want to play with women? … You want to play with girls, bro? The fu*k out of here. You’re 6’10” like 270.”

“Enes Kanter stupid. Fu*k he doing, dog. Seriously. Why does he want to play with women? Why does he need attention? Just do a podcast or some sh*t. Why the fu*k do you want to play with girls? I don’t get that, dog.”
Kanter played 11 seasons in the NBA, and was a backup for a majority of his career. He previously criticized LeBron James for his ties to China, and also made statements about his home nation Türkiye, that drew criticism.
As a result, the government issued a bounty on him and requested Interpol’s assistance with the extradition. Meanwhile, as a retired player, Williams hammered Kanter for what he perceives as ‘attention seeking.’

“The last thing I want in life is attention. That’s the last thing. I’m not here for attention. If I weren’t here with all you guys, I’d still be somewhere talking about the same type sh*t. You know what I mean? You want to play with girls, bro? The f**k out of here? You’re 6’10 like 270.”
Of course, Kanter has now reportedly been told by the WNBA that he is not eligible to play, although he maintains that he has not yet received any official confirmation of the same.
