The New York Giants took a chance on veteran wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. in free agency this year. Beckham has had some struggles recently and didn’t play a game in 2025. But the veteran pass catcher believes he can still bring value to an NFL team.
Signing on with the Giants brings his career full circle. He spent the first five seasons of his career in New York, becoming one of the most exciting players in the league. He has played for four teams since then, but New York certainly still holds a special place in his heart.
However, the feel-good story may not last past the preseason. One NFL analyst believes there is a realistic chance that Beckham does not make the Giants roster for Week 1.
NFL Analyst Believes Giants Could Cut Odell Beckham Jr. Before Week 1
PFSN NFL analyst Jacob Infante recently provided his five surprise cut candidates for the 2026 season.
Beckham is a part of this list, with Infante believing his time back in the Big Apple may be short-lived.
“Obviously a household name from his time earlier in his career with the Giants. He’s now back in New York after a few stops across the league… The big question for him now is if he’s still good enough to make the team?” Infante said.
“(Beckham) hasn’t looked bad at all. The big question now is does he make the team? Because the Giants genuinely have a logjam in that WR5/WR6 battle. It’s OBJ, you’re looking at guys like Darnell Mooney, Braxton Berrios, Jalin Hyatt, Isaiah Hodgins. All of them are battling for those two final roster spots,” Infante continued.
Beckham has not played since 2024, as previously mentioned.

He appeared in nine games with the Miami Dolphins that season, recording just nine catches.
His last full season came in 2023, when he racked up 565 receiving yards with the Baltimore Ravens.
2025 marked the second time in four seasons that Beckham did not appear in a single game.

He also missed the 2022 season entirely due to an injury suffered in Super Bowl LVI while playing for the Los Angeles Rams.
Beckham has a Super Bowl to his name, as the Rams defeated the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl LVI.
He has already turned in an impressive career to this point. Still, it’s clear that the veteran feels he has something more to prove. And he will try to lock down a roster spot with the preseason drawing to a close.
