Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Rashod Bateman hasn’t been too much of a presence in the Ravens’ camp heading into the 2026 NFL season. News about a possible reason Bateman wasn’t around sparked a few reactions across the NFL world.
According to a statement from the Ravens, Bateman was arrested on domestic violence charges related to an incident that happened in Georgia.

According to TMZ, “Bateman is accused of family violence in Georgia after he allegedly smashed the windows of his baby mama’s car… while his 3-month-old was inside.”
The incident reportedly took place on June 3. TMZ noted that “according to the arrest warrant, glass shattered and caused multiple small lacerations to the alleged victim’s face.” Moreover, it was revealed that Bateman surrendered to the Walton County Sheriff that same day, but the case remains ongoing.
ESPN Ravens reporter Jamison Hensley posted the full Ravens statement regarding Bateman on Friday.
“We are aware of the situation involving Rashod and have been in direct communication with him,” the Ravens’ statement indicated. “We notified the league office and have been cooperating throughout the process. As this is a pending legal matter, we will not have further comment.”
Zain Dhanani, analyst for Fantasy Life, noted what happened here with Bateman. He wrote this: “Rashod Bateman had been mysteriously missing at random points during the offseason, and now we potentially have an answer.”

Jesse Morse, M.D., who is board-certified in sports and family medicine, had some things to say about Bateman. Morse shared his thoughts: “Gulp. Oh boy, another player in trouble for poor decision making? This time Rashod Bateman in June 2026.”

One online influencer wrote this to the Ravens: “Ja’Kobi Lane WR2 … Cut this (expletive),” urging Baltimore to make Lane the WR2 and the team to part ways with Bateman.

Stephie Smalls, who hosts a podcast on the Sports Gambling Podcast Network, decided to offer some words on Bateman, too. She posted, “Let me guess, this is Harbaugh’s fault too.”
It came after Bateman’s comments from earlier in the week about the new coaching staff went viral, and fans assumed that the wideout was taking at John Harbaugh.

Jeff Mueller, PT, DPT, who is an injury analyst for Fantasy Points, commented about Bateman in light of Houston Texans wide receiver Jayden Higgins being lost for this season. Mueller posted online, “So… the Texans won’t be trading for Rashod Bateman?”
Earlier today it was reported that the Texans are keeping an eye on Bateman as a potential trade candidate alongside the New England Patriots’ Kayshon Boutte.
Now, the Ravens and other NFL reporters and influencers are waiting to see what happens to Bateman in his NFL career.
Right now, that future does not look bright.
