Sophie Cunningham Sends Special Message to ‘Save Women’s Sports’ Supporters Amid Recent Trans-Athlete Controversy

Sophie Cunningham met with 'Save Women's Sports' activist after Thursday's game against Wings, signing posters and voicing support.

Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham reaffirmed her commitment to female-only athletics following Thursday’s game against the Dallas Wings by connecting directly with prominent ‘Save Women’s Sports’ activists.

Cunningham signed posters after the match and wrote a personal message for her fans, doubling down on her fight against biological men in women’s sports.

What started when Cunningham published an article sharing her thoughts on female athletics quickly turned into a nationwide debate. The Fever guard made her point plain and simple: advocating for female-only sports categories isn’t about being anti-trans or hating anyone.

For her, it was strictly about fair competition, locker-room privacy, and maintaining a level playing field for female athletes. Still, putting those thoughts on paper instantly turned her into the central face of the “Save Women’s Sports” movement.

Ever since, Fever games have felt like a spotlight for the debate. Rallies keep popping up outside arenas across the country, some packed with supporters holding signboards, and others with protesters calling her out.

Things got especially loud during a road trip to face the Toronto Tempo, where local fans showered her with heavy boos every time she touched the ball. But Cunningham didn’t let the noise shake her; she took the hostility in stride.

That same energy followed the team to Texas for their matchup against the Dallas Wings. Hours before tipoff, groups gathered outside the arena for a pre-game rally to show solidarity with Cunningham’s stance.

After the final buzzer, Cunningham connected with fans in the stands, among them was a young activist from the “Save Women’s Sports” movement, who got the 30-year-old to sign her poster.

Sharing a video about the same on X, Texas Values wrote:

“Sophie Cunningham signs our poster with “Keep being you, we are behind you” for Save Women’s Sports Leader & College Athlete from Texas @BrookeSlusser after the game!”

“Thank you to @sophaller for signing posters and taking pictures with everyone after the game. Thank you to everyone who attended today’s rally & game ❤️ Men do not belong in women’s sports or private spaces,” they added.

On the court, however, the night didn’t go Indiana’s way. The Dallas Wings pulled away in the final minutes to capture a 91-85 victory, handing the Fever a tough loss and officially snapping their hot five-game winning streak.

At the end of the day, Cunningham’s situation shows just how tricky this topic has become for modern sports. Until sports organizations establish clear rules for everyone, players like Cunningham will keep speaking their minds.
