The Cleveland Browns’ quarterback battle is becoming a fight for more than the starting job. With four quarterbacks competing for limited opportunities, the Browns face difficult decisions before finalizing their 53-man roster.
With their second preseason game around the corner, Taylen Green has now started drawing attention after making the most of an expanded opportunity, while Dillon Gabriel is facing calls from fans to move on.
The latest buzz could add another twist to an already crowded quarterback room.
Taylen Green Hype Fuels Calls to Move on From Dillon Gabriel
Green received a big workload during Cleveland’s joint practice with the Buffalo Bills, giving the Browns plenty to consider.
The 6-foot-6 quarterback connected with Tylan Wallace for a touchdown before using his speed to score on a quarterback option. His performance has added more intrigue to a room that already includes Deshaun Watson, Shedeur Sanders, and Gabriel.
Head coach Todd Monken has noticed Green’s progress, even though the rookie has struggled to get consistent reps. Monken said, “That dude is smart as heck. I love that dude. It’s just hard. We got four guys. All he does is work, smile on his face.”
Green’s limited opportunities make his performance more notable. Meanwhile, Sanders has reportedly worked with Green after practice, giving the rookie another resource as he adjusts to the NFL.

John Galt wrote, “Then cut or trade Gabriel. Too easy.”
The suggestion shows the difficult roster math facing Cleveland. Jeff Mueller also called for changes, writing, “Might be time to get rid of 1 or 2 of those guys in the way, Todd.”

Green’s development has also drawn attention because of the help he has received from Sanders. One fan pointed to that connection, writing, “That’s because Shedeur has been helping Green after practice every day.”
The calls to move Gabriel did not stop there. Another user wrote, “Cut Gabriel and move on.”

Some fans are already calling for Green to receive a much bigger role. One user simply wrote, “QB1.”
Another fan argued, “You do not have four guys. Watson, Shedeur, and Dillon [expletive]. Give Taylen all 1st-team reps and see what you have there. He’s the only one there with potential. Worst-case scenario is that he [expletive] as well and you get a high draft pick where you can take a QB.”
You do not have four guys lmfao. Watson, Shedeur, and Dillon suck. Give Taylen all 1st team reps and see what you have there. He’s the only one there with potential. Worst case scenario is that he sucks as well and you get a high draft pick where you can take a QB.

Cleveland still has several paths forward, including trading Gabriel, keeping Green on the active roster, or risking him on waivers. Green’s upcoming opportunities could determine whether the Browns view him as a developmental project or someone worth protecting now.
