Claressa Shields is used to making bold statements inside the boxing ring, but her latest sports opinion has given rise to a different kind of reaction. The undefeated champion revealed her personal Greatest of All Time selections across several sports, and her NFL choice was bound to catch everyone’s attention.
Claressa Shields Names Dak Prescott Her NFL GOAT
Shields named Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott as her choice for the greatest player in the NFL. The selection came as part of a broader list that included some of the biggest names across sports and entertainment, but her choice at quarterback caught the attention of NFL fans.
The boxing champion selected Michael Jordan as her basketball GOAT and A’ja Wilson on the WNBA side of things. She also named Terence Crawford and Floyd Mayweather among her male boxing picks, while Katie Taylor, Caroline Dubois, and herself featured among her choices in women’s boxing.
Her NFL selection, however, generated a lot of talk on social media. Prescott is one of the league’s established quarterbacks, but placing him at the top of the all-time list puts him ahead of names such as Tom Brady, Joe Montana, Peyton Manning, and Patrick Mahomes.
This made Shields’ opinion an easy target for debate.

One X user, Rae, reacted bluntly, writing, “She said Dak Prescott lost me right there.” Another fan took a more humorous shot at the selection, saying, “Heard Dak and I laughed like the Joker.”

The criticism continued from there, with fans questioning how Prescott could rank above the quarterbacks traditionally associated with the NFL’s GOAT conversation.

One social media user wrote, “Dak Prescott? She the first woman with CTE.” Another appeared simply stunned by the choice, asking, “Did she just say Dak Prescott?”

One fan named Kris Hampton also pushed back, writing, “Ain’t no way you said that Dak Prescott is the goat in the NFL. Out of ALL QBs. Goodnight y’all.”
Shields’ willingness to make strong GOAT selections comes from a career that gives her plenty of experience with such debates. She remains undefeated at 19-0 with 4 KOs after stopping Kaye Scott in the sixth round on Aug. 15.
The victory helped Shields reclaim the WBA and WBC middleweight titles after moving down to the 160-pound division. She has also won world championships across five weight classes and remains ranked among the sport’s elite pound-for-pound fighters.
While NFL fans may not agree with her selection of Prescott, Shields clearly has her own standard for what makes an athlete the greatest.
