Caitlin Clark continues to be one of the most prominent names across the WNBA. However, not all of the attention has been positive. The 24-year-old guard has received plenty of criticism, but it can’t be denied that she’s had numerous remarkable performances on the court.
Now, sports columnist and commentator Skip Bayless has backed Clark and her playmaking prowess.

Bayless’ comments came in the wake of the Fever’s game agains the Wings, where Clark had 29 points and 10 assists. However, her teammates came under the spotlight for missing several golden opportunities throughout the game.
The Indiana Fever star is currently averaging 21.9 points, 3.9 rebounds and 8.3 assists per game, while shooting 45.0% from the floor. At the same time, she posts 4.6 turnovers per game – the most in the WNBA at this time. She is significantly ahead of Alyssa Thomas (3.6), who is in second.
Clark’s 8.3 assists per game lead the WNBA, and her 21.9 points place her in third in the league. But as Bayless pointed out, with the good comes the bad. Clark is an exceptional offensive player, but it’s not without error, and Bayless points to her Fever teammates.
After making plenty of noise during her collegiate career at the University of Iowa, Clark’s transition into professional basketball was filled with immense pressure; all eyes were on her from the start.
Clark was the No. 1 overall pick in the first round of the 2024 WNBA draft, selected by the Fever. She is now in the midst of her third year competing in the league.
She finished her rookie campaign in 2024, averaging 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 8.4 assists per game. She shot 41.7% from the floor. The following year, in 2025, she wrapped up with averages of 16.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 8.8 assists per game.
Since playing professionally, Clark has been known for her high turnover rates. She finished her rookie year averaging 5.6 turnovers and 5.1 in the next. In total, throughout her WNBA career, she has registered 428 turnovers.
Clark continues to be a leading factor for Indiana as the franchise enters its next clash against the Atlanta Dream on Sunday (tip-off at 5 p.m. ET).
The Fever sit atop the Eastern Conference standings at 22-12 overall. Atalanta is following closely behind at 21-12 overall. This is expected to be a charged meeting between the two teams.
